Exceeded Expectations

Posted Oct 11, 2016
The hotel was great and in an excellent location. Beautiful property but it is a tad out-dated. They offered an early risers breakfast for those of use needing to leave early for a local event; as an active racer this is something that can help kick off our day on the right foot. The regular breakfast buffet was impressive as well.

Great location, small room

Posted Oct 10, 2016
The hotel grounds were very nice, breakfast was great. The room was small, but clean. The door to the room was a little un secure, felt like you could slide a credit card thru the gap between the door frame and open it up.

Thank you for your review of your stay. We will look into the doors to our room and ensure that all of them are fit into their frame correctly so that they are secure for our guests. Our breakfast buffet is included in all stays, which is a great value. We also offer a great location, just a short distance from Lake Tahoe and some of Tahoe's premier attractions. We hope that you visit again soon!

Cabin-like feel with the comfort of a hotel

Posted Oct 4, 2016
My team and I rented this place for our stay for the Spartan World Championship weekend in Squaw Valley. We just needed a place to stay, but didn't realize that in addition to the breakfast buffet, there is also an in-unit, fully furnished kitchen! There is a coffee machine, toaster, full-sized oven/stove, dishwasher, utensils and dishware; you name it! My team and I went to the Save Mart grocery store close by and bought all the ingredients we needed to make dinner. We loved our stay; and would definitely consider staying here again. The couch was a pullout sofa bed--which was nice because we had four people staying in a 2-bed unit. No complaints here!

One night stopover in NLT

Posted Sep 11, 2016
Pros: Peace, space, breakfast.
Cons: Welcome.
Location: Transport required. Supermarket in front of you at the intersection when you reach North Lake Tahoe's centre if self catering. Loved touring LakeTahoe
Touring the area, so very much a stopover as I travelled through North Lake Tahoe heading south. A quiet location, first week back for schools in the area, which suited me fine. Good of the hotel to space guests out across the complex, so a very peaceful time - the only occupied suite in my block of 4. You need a car, the complex is tucked away and a long walk to the centre of NLT. Car parking right beside your room. You can tell the complex is set up for the skiing season, the suite very much set up with space set aside for gear and bathroom facilities set away from your bedroom. Modest but clean facilities. Breakfast a highlight, significant buffet options set me up perfectly for the day of travel ahead. I'm sure this Facility suits winter sports visitors down to the ground. Didn't spend time using additional guest facilities available.

We are so glad that you enjoyed your brief stay at Granlibakken Tahoe, Phil. Our location in a quiet 74 acre valley just a short drive from Tahoe City is perfect for a peaceful getaway. The onsite ski and sled hill is a big hit in the winter, and skiing and sledding day passes are half-priced for lodging guests. Our many amenities onsite, from the outdoor heated pool to the Treetop Adventure Course, are great for summer guests as well. We hope that you will visit again soon, and hopefully for a longer stay!

Grand Old Ski Lodge, Beautiful Setting

Posted Sep 5, 2016
Pros: Wonderful location, pleasant and helpful staff, clean and comfortable room.
Cons: Décor in some of the condos more or less dated...ours circa 70's but in decent repair. Not a big deal.
Location: Grandlibakken is just off Lake Drive, 1/4 mile from Hwy 89/Truckee River intersection. Skiing, biking, hiking nearby. Tahoe House Bakery a must!
Going in, we knew Grandlibakken was not going to be ultra modern décor with cutting edge condos. For our needs, a comfortable bed, clean furnishing in good repair and a hearty hot breakfast were our main concerns. The setting, nestled among acres of tall pines, adjacent to ski runs and bike trails, was totally gorgeous even without direct lake views. The staff greeted us with welcoming smiles and eye contact. The studio with kitchen we'd booked in advance turned out to be located on the 3rd floor without elevator access and wouldn't work with my mobility issues. Even though heavily booked with 2 wedding parties and some sort of yoga conference, team members combined their resources and know how to manage a ground floor, (in this case only 10 step total), to make our stay doable. Note to others with disabilities: The main lodge/lobby entrance requires navigating 3 sets of stairs but a sign points out a AC entrance available to the far right. This is on level ground and requires traveling 200+ feet to check-in. The breakfast itself is laid out nicely between 7:30-9:30 AM. Use usual beverages, cereals, yogurt, fresh fruit and toast is accompanied by a rotating variety of pastries, croissants, muffins, eggs, cheese blintzes, quiche, bacon, sausage and more. Our unit was furnished with sleeper sofa, firm queen bed, extra blankets, fireplace desk, 2 recliners & tables. A compact kitchen with full sized appliances, utensils, dishes & glassware was adequate as was the full bath

We are so pleased that you enjoyed your recent stay at Granlibakken Tahoe, Casey. We pride ourselves on offering exceptional customer service and on meeting all of our guests' needs to the best of our ability, and we always love to hear when the staff goes above and beyond for guests. Our property is large, and most of our rooms do require stairs, but I am glad you were able to be moved to more suitable accommodations. All of our rooms are owned by individual homeowners, and do differ in decor and furnishings. We do our best to maintain a minimum standard of upgrading in all of our rooms. We are glad you enjoyed your getaway, and we hope that you will visit again soon!

Great facility and location.

Posted Aug 15, 2016
Pros: The atmosphere and the feel of the facilities
Cons: Could not use the thermostat or open a window, but was not really necessary.
We were greeted at reception with a very helpful staff member and all others we met treated us very well. The facilities themselves were as pictured yet the overall effect was better than expected. It is in a good location in Tahoe City.

great for families with kids

Posted Aug 13, 2016
Pros: The scent of the Jefferey pines.
Cons: It's not the hotel's fault, but I found Tahoe to be unexpectedly congested for a retreat; and too much of the lakefront is privately owned.
Location: biking, hiking, ziplining
I arrived way too early so rented a bicycle for the day. The bike trails are far more congested and interrupted than I expected, so I returned early and hung out on the hotel grounds. I was solo and didn't want to hike by myself deep in the woods, so I watched the zip-liners. This hotel is not a good place for couples or solo people; it's better for families.

Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent stay at Granlibakken Tahoe. Lake Tahoe does get busy and congested during the summer, but on weekdays and during the early summer or early fall are beautiful times to experience the area without all of the crowds. Our hotel does offer a great array of amenities that are perfect for families, and we will work on making solo travelers feel more comfortable here as well. We hope that you will give Tahoe another chance, and perhaps visit when the crowds have died down a bit.
