Room only accommodation for Northstar ski resort

Posted Jan 29, 2016
Condo was comfortable but some blocks (including ours ) are a trek or shuttle to the village and lifts. Parking was a bit precious too.

Adequate lodging

Posted Jan 7, 2016
Room was a bit dingy, although clean. Cable tv worked but screen was splotchy. Instructions on how to work the fireplace were confusing and inaccurate (one of the 3 separate framed instructions on the wall indicated a need to open a window when running the fireplace in order to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning. I was later told this is not true). I was happy to have a working and stocked kitchen. I couldn't find the outside trashcans where I was supposed to bring my trash. Heat worked and water was hot.

Hotel close to Northstar Resort

Posted Jan 3, 2016
Pros: I like that it is close to Northstar ski and we just need to call whenever we need a shuttle.
Cons: Please provide true advertising. If the condo can only accommodate 6, please says so. Don't push it to be for 8! The bed situation was unacceptable!!!
Location: Northstar Village is close by with restaurants, skating rink, theater and of course beautiful ski slopes.
We booked a 3-bedroom condo for 8 people. But disappointingly, the condo can only accommodate up to 6, with 2 double beds and 1 king size bed. They did not have a sofa bed as promised when I called at least twice and asked again when I checked in. They said (after we moved into the condo) we should find rubber mats in the closet for the extra guests but we only found one and they had to deliver one more. These floor mats are thin/short and look like yoga mats- extremely uncomfortable for anyone to have a good night sleep. My niece and nephew had to "rough" it out, like they were camping! We also had to bring sleeping bags for them =(

Everything Great but Heating was a Nightmare

Posted Nov 23, 2015
I would highly recommend this place if it weren't for the horrible heating system, which is crucial during a winter stay. We stayed in a 3 bed/2 bath unit. One bedroom was an ice box but the other two were so hot and dry that it was completely unbearable. After all of our tries, we could not get the heating in an acceptable range for the whole unit. Combined with soft mattresses, it made sleeping very difficult even after long days of skiing. We loved Northstar but will not be returning to this resort.

Comfortable Stay Except Demand for ID

Posted Nov 21, 2015
Cons: Don't demand to see ID because it violates the Merchant Agreement with credit card companies. Change a coffee maker.
It was overall a comfortable stay except few things that need to be changed/improved. Ugly: - For security reasons, Credit Card Merchant Agreement prohibits merchants from demanding/asking to see ID from credit card users. I know the reason first hand from my experience. Many other hotels don't demand ID when I present a credit card which I used to book a hotel room. Vail Resort/Northstar front desk person kept demanding ID from me even when I showed them my ski season pass, which irritated me. They shouldn't demand ID from credit card users as it violates Merchant Agreement with credit card companies and other privacy laws in CA. Please change Vail Resort policy appropriately. Could be better: - Refrigerator's temperature control knob was stuck and couldn't be adjusted. Everything I left on the top shelf of the refrigerator was frozen. - Coffee maker didn't have a fitting pot/cup, and counter top was flooded with coffee spewed from a coffee maker I had to clean up the counter top several times as a coffee maker kept spewing coffee to everywhere. Hardly a relaxing morning. - The appearance of sofa in the individually furnished studio was not appealing with rough texture and didn't look too clean either. -The towels were thin and rough. Good: - Bed was comfortable and toiletries were adequate. - Thermostat worked. I will stay again but I really didn't appreciate the Vail's "policy" of demanding ID in violation of Merchant Agreement with credit card companies.

Pros: close to ski lift
just OK , did not stay where we book . The room wasn't ready. Have to inconvenience move the second day to the new room. The key less system wasn't working need to wait for the maintenance to come and fix it. Can't wait so we just leave the room and have them fix it when we get back

Cons: Carpet needs to be clean--- remove stains.
Location: Good location, very close to the village where all the activities and restaurants.
Staff have good customer service. Room is spacious and with full kitchen just that carpet needs some cleaning as there are some stains otherwise our stay was comfortable.

Nice but loud

Posted Nov 6, 2015 on Hotels
Nice place but 7 a.m. on Saturday morning is too early for them to start construction work. The sound of heavy equipment wasn't pleasant but staff was friendly and the room was cozy.

Great escape!

Posted Oct 26, 2015
Cons: Better kitchen appliances. Leather couches.
Location: Lots of hiking, recreation center charges $2 a day but you get access to a really nice workout center and multiple hot tubs. Starbucks closed at 1pm.
I traveled during offseason October, and boy was the resort area empty!! Great alone time. I had a 20 person hot tub all to myself, the room was clean and had extra blankets, the couch was a sleeper couch in case a friend wants to stay over, and the patio was huge! Beautiful working and warm gas fireplace. Standard kitchen with appliances. Wonderful hiking nearby. I'm used to 5* resorts and would rate this as 3* but comfortable, clean, and low key. Very real and livable, I recommend it!

Location is a "10"

Posted Oct 21, 2015 on Hotels
Being located right in the Village was great, even though hardly any restaurants or shops were open at this time of the year. Our main disappointment was that we were told by the staff at the front desk that our room had been recently updated and it had not. Also the exterior of the building is really rough and it appears they are in the process of paint and repair.
