Squaw Valley is a #snow lovers paradise. Our group had skiers, snowboarders and snowshoers and everyone had a blast. We visited during the holidays and on New Years Eve we got to watch epic fireworks at the base of the mountain. Rad. California is getting some of the best snow right now, thanks to the El Niño weather pattern. This was taken a month ago but now the snow is all likely gone because of the driest January on record. You want to shred some serious Pow lines? Hop on over to Alpine Meadows, Lake Tahoe California. Yes California, we're not just beaches :) What's cool about this ski resort is the lax control on back country access. You want to ski out of boundaries? Sure, but you're on you're own. Shirley Lake 9/10 The hike up Shirley Canyon provides an amazing payoff to effort ratio. Great for a quick afternoon hike to relax with the sound of the falls! Another shot of the crystal clear river. Keep Tahoe blue. In the village at Squaw Creek, Lake Tahoe looking at the slopes. Top of the ski area. And last one of the river. Took a detour from Lake Tahoe and found a nice river. Squaw Valley is not for the faint of heart, but my boyfriend is seasoned veteran from upstate New York.
This novice skier, California girl, didn't pay attention to which lift she was getting on and then spent the next 3 hours trying to get back down the mountainside.
