Hotel needs updating.

Posted Aug 8, 2016
The amenities are great a lot of activities to do on the premisis. The room were probably last updates in the 70's. Our room smelled like mold and mildew of course the only allergy I have so the night was rough. The outdoor pools also need to be renovated. Room make-overs would go a long way.

We're NEVER going back.

Posted Aug 3, 2016
Pros: nothing
Cons: everything
I've been to Cove Haven at least half a dozen times in the past 15 years. I was even one of the models in a past brochure! They were always an all-inclusive reasonably priced alternative destination for my wife and I. A little corny? Sure. But fun. The place has new owners who are just trying to maximize profits while minimizing up keep. First, it was offered as all-inclusive on Expedia. It is not. I was sold one price online, then told i had to buy meal vouchers separately. I was then hit with another $25 per day "resort fee" for use of the pools and other facilities. Drinks are extra, too. Oh, and lunch isn't included with the meal vouchers. And about the lunch... $10.95 for a turkey burger. No fries. No pickle or salad. Just the burger, which was average at best. We drove off the resort for the rest of our lunches. Drinks were $8-$10 each. My room was falling apart: Light bulbs were out. Broken clock. Broken bed. Half-assed cleaning. I had my wallet out constantly at this "all-inclusive" resort. I spent as much in 4 days here as I would've for a real all-inclusive to Jamaica, including airfare! One of the room cleaning staff stole my hand made $100 tobacco pipe the second day, just to add insult to injury. Honest Phil was still there and Mike, the CXO, was great, too. The entertainers, Tony and Mike "Stanky", were the highlight of the otherwise terrible trip. It's safe to say I won't be returning... ever

Amazing stay

Posted Aug 1, 2016
I've read reviews before. some bad some good. I came here with my special someone for her birthday and she loved it. The atmosphere is amazing, food , drinks and activities there are amazing. We did what we could for over night stay but just amazing for a couple who wants to get away and spend real quality time with one another. Rooms might be outdated but it's not bout that. It's bout your loved one. Wether it's sitting in the in room whirlpool or sitting by the fire place, playing mini golf, playing a little laser tag here and there Or even laying in your circular bed underneath the led stars that's installed in the ceiling, It's all about the connection you make with your partner. Love this resort and we will definitely return soon.

Fun concept but needs updating!

Posted Aug 1, 2016
The concept of the hotels was great. We enjoyed the outdoor activities and the organized activities. The overall appearance of the hotel and rooms are outdated and can use some updating.

Unexpected Service Fees

Posted Aug 1, 2016
Pros: Very good value for the price paid. Large range of activities including an on-site shuttle, plus reciprocity with other resorts under same management
Cons: Better lake experience. We discovered at the marina, the only place that one can even see the lake, the hotel had a loudspeaker blaring music.
Location: Hawley and Hamlin are nearby towns with most amenities needed if you want to go off the resort. However, most of the lake shore is private.
Our confirmation indicated that we'd have to pay a resort fee of $ 25 per night, so we expected to pay that. But we were surprised to be hit with an even larger service fee, which we had to pay up front, thinking it was in lieu of tips to the hotel staff. When we checked out, the hotel staff told us that the service charge did not go to them or their hotel, but was kept by Expedia as part of their revenue. I think the overall value of the hotel still made it worthwhile, but Expedia should have mentioned the amount of the service charge on their confirmation, much as they did with the resort fee.

Food excellent and staff professional.

Posted Jul 31, 2016
Pros: The remoteness.
Cons: Drain system for hot tub in room. When water is on it splashes on to the floor because there is no drain.
Location: The entertainment at the site was adequate and one does not to leave the premises.
The entertainment was excellent and the gym facilities/Jacuzzi were excellent.
