Faces across the Promenade

Posted Oct 3, 2016
Pros: Location location location - as the saying goes! Bus stop and tram stop nearby, 10 minute flat walk to the rail station. And a GOOD price!
Cons: Could be a relief to be away from a computer (in my case!) but the free wifi was only available in or near the lounge. Might be strengthened?
Location: North end of Town, easy access (foot, bus, tram) to the 3 piers and the Blackpool Tower.
I had a formal dinner elsewhere in Town, and was looking for somewhere economical that didn't penalise single travellers. I found it! The Baron is a conversion of an Edwardian 'Town House' I believe. The conversion is neatly done but not screamingly up to date, and nicer for it! As with so many 'houses' of this period, rooms at the rear are off half landings, so it is truly a case of 'upstairs / downstairs' when using the lift. Beats using the stairs (for me) but only just - it's quite pedestrian!! My room was adequate, the bed comfortable, the en suite bathroom nicely fitted and, with the Queen size bed, perfect for a single traveller. Breakfast is served in their 'twin' Hotel next door - lunch...? may not be room for that after their full breakfast! Access between the two properties is being improved as I write!

Pros: Nothing
Cons: The one we ended up in is in need of updating.
Location: Location was ok just right for the tower and central pier. Bus stop right out side the hotels and tram stop not far away.
Arrived to find our sea view room was on the third floor, the lift only went to second floor, as we are both in our seventies stairs were out. We were also informed that breakfast was in the hotel next door. The well stocked bar did not exist. If we wanted a drink we had to go to the bar in the next door hotel. The hotel next door ended up giving us a non sea view room for two nights then moved us to a sea view room. The hole experience did not live up to the four star treatment we were expecting and definitely was not in anyway a four star experience and not worth the eighty pounds a night paid. All this was brought to the attention of both managers, neither had a plausible excuse as to why.

Everything Great

Posted Jul 18, 2016
Great hotel, right on the seafront a very short distance from the North Pier. Comfortable, spacious room, nice comfy beds. Staff very friendly. Great, cooked to order breakfast. Room had a nice seating area in front of windows overlooking the seafront. Stayed late July and room was lovely and cool as the windows allowed the cool breeze from the sea to enter.

The only which surprised me was it's a Bed and breakfast not a hotel as advertised. I think that should be put right. The service was good owner very helpful with information. Shower too small to get in and water was very hot. Breakfast was good served hot.

Fairly typical seaside boarding house.

Pros: The location.
Cons: The breakfast. It was OK but nothing special. More importantly we could not get breakfast until 8.30 a.m. We needed to get away for a flight.
Location: Plenty going on if you like seaside and clubs.
The location of the hotel is good being about half a mile from the Tower. There was parking but not sufficient for everyone. We were able to park and leave our key with the owner to move it to enable others to get out.
