Lovely place to relax, super food and super attentive and friendly staff nothing too much trouble The rooms are lovely, they are literally up in the rainforest so there are steps to climb but you only need to ask a staff member and they will take you up in the car. The hotel has a farm inland and do a visit with the hotel chef to look around and prepare a meal, well worth it!

Fabulous Stay
Wonderful retreat high in the rainforest. Transportation provided up or down the hill whenever requested and ready to take us up to our place as soon as we arrived. Staff couldn’t be nicer or more accommodating. Excellent restaurants and spa. Great location. Lovely beach across the road where Holiday Villa will sell you a wristband for about $10 to use their pool, facilities, beach and pool lounges, and give you a beer or soft drink. Many restaurants nearby, though those at the resort are among the best. We’d go back any time.

Amazing Ambong
Amazing…..service. Every staff member greeted me by name. I remember a couple of name. Lee picked me up at the airport which is always nice to see a smile from after a flight. Azin was my driver for the hill and sister hotel. Dropped me off a scooter rental which was excellent. Elena saw me off and checked on my stay. 4 nights then stayed an extra night in the canopy suite. UPGRADE whenever possible! Raja the grounds keeper was always working on the gardens. Food was great. Wendy Chin for nature guide! Langer Monkeys are residents! Of course the naughty macaques…fun to watch. Almost forgot to mention the happy birthday surprises they made it special!

I recently had a wonderful stay at Ambong Rainforest Retreat. The staff created a warm and friendly environment that made me feel welcome throughout my visit. The cleanliness of the hotel was impressive, with well-maintained rooms and common areas. I appreciated the attention to detail and the commitment to a high standard of hygiene. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. Thanks for everything they do! Villa was nice and very clean, they check on the villa twice a day. Since it's a small accomodation, they get to know you well and are on top of the activities you plan. Super friendly and nice overall.

Watch the local taxis; they try to drop you at the bottom of the mountain and it’s impossible to get your suitcase up to reception. You then have to leave it unattended. I felt concerned as reception tried to sell me spa treatments over moving my luggage so a rocky start. That being covered I couldn’t really rate the lovely staff and accommodation. They were simply wonderful. Monkeys are so sweet but thieves :) watch your mobile and bright coloured nail varnish . Mine are all somewhere in the rainforest. You do need insect repellent. There are lots of mosquitoes. The staff will supply you if you forget and they don’t charge. The beach at the bottom of the mountain is stunning and not busy. Very clean ( no plastic) which seemed to be a problem as I traveled around Malaysia, Indonesia and Vietnam. Have a great stay!

Professional, helpful and friendly staff. Super responsive and took care of a minor bathroom issue within the hour. Helpful in planning day activities for my family. Rooms were spacious and clean. Very hilly grounds, so not for those with mobility issues (but reaort does offer shuttle service to drive guests to/from rooms). Very pleasant stay.

The unique location of this property sets it apart. You really feel like you are immersed in the rainforest, with a front row seat to the lives of the animals that dwell in it. The service and care we received from all the staff at the retreat during our stay was exceptional. The dining was excellent and the views from the Rimba restaurant at sunset completely unforgettable. Definitely recommend to anyone who loves nature and is seeking peace and tranquility.

We absolutely loved our stay at Ambong Ambong. The staff were all very attentive, caring and friendly. The nature surrounding the villas is stunning, and so much love and thought is put into the hospitality experience. We are also vegan, so having a vegan restaurant was delightful! I am so looking forward to staying here again. This truly is a unique place.

Wonderful place for anyone who is looking for an eco-friendly hotel. Staff were very helpful and tried their best to make our stay comfortable. Just note that the property is on a hill, which requires climbing some stairs to get to your room. Transportation around the hotel is provided upon request.

Ambong Ambong is nestled in the rainforest which provides a lovely calming experience, the staff are so willing to assist you in any way including driving you to the restaurant and back to your room, would absolutely recommend to anyone travelling to langkawi, however they do need to change who does their laundry as we had a few items ruined

My husband and I stayed at Ambong Ambong's Canopy Suite for 4D3N for our wedding anniversary. It was an absolutely magical experience. The room was scenic, clean and well-maintained. It allows you to bask in nature very comfortably! We saw hornbills, giant squirrel, monitor lizard and dusty leaf monkeys during our stay. Don't worry, they were just in their natural habitat and didn't disturb us. There were activities there included in our stay and all you had to do was check if slots were still available. We did yoga, singing bowl and aerial yoga and had a great time! Food at both Rimba and Pegaga restaurants were great, but we really loved Pegaga as it was really quiet, naturesque and served delicious vegan food. The staff had fantastic customer service - before during and after our stay. We were super impressed. There are only 11 rooms there and the service was very personalised. We were pleasantly surprised to find out that we would be shuttled by car up and down our rooms to the breakfast restaurants (Rimba and Pegaga) and down the hill to the entrance of the hotel whenever we want to go out. Staff were really prompt in replying us. They even went out of the way to bring us to restaurants that were another 5 minute drive outside of the hotel! Special mention to 2 staff who were extra kind and friendly and made our stay there exceptional: Putra and Lee. They regularly fetched us in the evening and morning respectively. The best option for you if you are looking at getting closer to the nature. The room was spacious and it came with a balcony overlooking the rainforest and partial sea view. Staff there was really nice and they are always so friendly whenever they see you. As the room is perched on the slope, walking up and down makes a good active time. Alternatively, you can also request for the hotel car shuttle service to drive you up and down. The area is also 10 to 15 minutes away from Pantai Cenang so you can still visit the tourist spots, minus the crowd and noise. Definitely coming back to here the next time we visit and considering the pool villa side the next time (:

Amazing visit to Ambong Ambong
We flew up to Langkawi after an overnight flight from the UK and we’re warmly welcomed by the amazing staff at AA. The quiet location of the retreat, the option for yoga & treatments, the lovely suite, the access to a driver and the ever so friendly and helpful staff made our first experience of Malaysia superb and one we will remember for a long time. Sundown drinks on the sky bar at the sister Ambong facility followed by dinner there was lovely, as was the local beach bar on Tenga beach, a visit to the Holiday Villa beach club (extra charge) and dinner at The Cliff in the nearby Pantai Chennai resort. The location and AA is somewhere we’d love to return to some day.

The place was absolutely amazing. We were treated very well from start to finish. The accommodation was really good saw monkeys in the mornings and had great food as well. We stayed for our honeymoon and they pulled out all the stops for us with a very romantic dinner on our own over looking the forest.

The stay was amazing which was within langkawi natural landscape and overseeing the beautiful beach. You could practically stare at the natural beauty from the balcony without realising the time. The staff were top notch trained to handle service and guest requests. All were thought through by the staff to make your stay pleasant. Example, they send the complimentary to your room on the requested time (great for non morning person to go down for breakfast) and the staff take effort to know and remember the guest's name. Kudos to the management and the team. Thank you for making my stay a true relax holiday.

A fabulous retreat
Ambong Ambong is a fantastic place to relax and unwind. We spent 3 nights here on our Honeymoon and enjoyed every minute. There was a small issue upon arrival where we were shown to a studio room despite having booked the canopy suite, but this was rectified within a couple of hours whilst we had dinner across the road. The staff were incredibly attentive and hospitable, with one particular stand-out quote being "anything is possible, you just have to ask".

We stayed in canopy suite 2 . Absolutely beautiful. Great views from amongst the tree tops. Room was very comfortable , very clean ( turn down service every day)and very quiet. Staff were all very attentive as ambong has so few rooms the service is quite personalised. In fact all the people we met in our travels around Malaysia were very friendly and interested. And for me , the visits from the monkeys was the icing on the top. Can not recommend ambong enough.

From what I saw of Langkawi, Ambong Ambong was hands down the best resort on the island. Extra friendly staff, amazing rooms with green and sea views and lots of wildlife. Will definitely be returning!

Service was fantastic. They also made me a special vegan breakfast and modified the restaurant meals to suit my dietary requirements. Delicious. Plus great cocktails! Beds were a little hard! But rooms very well appointed. Small but nice pool. Chauffeur service to local bars/shops/restaurants was great help as the hotel was a bit removed from main area. Local area is a bit run down and underdevelopment, but the hotel was very peaceful. Saw lots of different wildlife, monkeys, snake!

We spent our honeymoon here and it was fantastic. Staff were so friendly and welcoming and helped plan our activities throughout our week. A special thanks to hotel manager Naz who was particularly helpful. The hotel is in a great location with just a 5-10 minute walk from the beach but unique unlike other hotels since its situated in the rainforest which brings a nice touch but a few more insects and bugs should be expected. Also a very nice feature was a phone given by the hotel by which you could contact them and a driver who could take you in and out of town free of charge. Particularly useful as the hotel itself is on a very steep hill so you would need a driver for almost all journeys. Accommodation was great; clean, great views, spacious rooms and good facilities. We were upgraded to the pool villas accommodation down the road for our final day since it was available which was even more luxurious. Alltogether a great hotel, 5 stars!

Ambong Ambong was amazing! It has amazing views and it’s in the rainforest All the staff were so amazing, caring and provided such excellent service. A couple staff stood out to us, their names are Me and Joe and one of the staff who worked in the dining area were just amazing. Me responded and got answers when our internet wasn’t done and was very nice when he was driving us around The dining staff gave us such amazing food advise for the night market and Ambong Pool Villa restaurant Our stay was beyond what was expected, we were treated so caring, everyone was nice and amazing The property is beautiful and it’s walking distance to the beach Def would recommend other people staying

Just the stay we needed
Our family of four 2+16yo+13yo stayed for four nights in July 2018 as part of a fairly hectic multi-city jaunt around SE Asia. This was our first time in Langkawi and we could not have been happier with the whole experience at Ambong Ambong. Due to a flight change we arrived at 8:00 p.m. on our first night. On being shown to our villa we were pleasantly surprised with a supper in our villa of cold drinks and delicious hot snacks. Our villa was very well maintained and very comfortable and cosy. Sitting on the balcony in the evening with only the wildlife sounds around was super relaxing. The mornings can get a bit raucous with monkeys skipping across the rooftops and screeching in the trees. Breakfast was served in the restaurant or can be delivered to your room with hot options as well as seasonal fruits and pastries. All of the staff are very eager to please and nothing is too much trouble. The resort is set into the (steep) hillside at one end of the island and is nicely secluded from the hustle and bustle, but still within walking distance to the beach, several spas and restaurants on the main strip. We were not staying in the peak season, but were amazed that in our entire stay of four days and nights, we barely saw another guest; it literally felt like we had the run of the resort. If you’re after a quiet spot for some relaxation in comfort, you can’t go past Ambong Ambong.

Great for couples with nature and awesome staff
So much space in the whole area. You will feel like you own the whole place. Staff are the best!!! We stated in the suits and it is well worth the money. You can see the whole view of the sea and huge outdoor bathtub in the balcony. The room is beautiful as well. However, If we stayed in the studio or canopy studio, we would be disappointed. Bathroom is really dark and small. It looked like a dorm bathroom without bathtub. The hotels.com said private bathroom without mentioning “shower only or bathtub”, which can mislead the information. Suites room also said “private bathroom”. The information can be updated? What a relaxing place and you can meet monkeys and they are harmless. Try the restaurant in the pool villa and Japanese restaurant. They both are great!!

Truly amazing
What a wonderful place to relax and unwind. I absolutely loved everything about this hotel. The staff, Dinner & drinks at Pool villas sister hotel, Breakfast and serenity of the surrounding environment. Staff at Ambong really went above and beyond to make sure my stay is enjoyable & comfortable. Thanks for creating the space where people can truly relax. Also, the hotel is reasonably priced which makes it accessible to most. I hope it will stay this way.
