Epic scenery with western comforts.Posted Aug 17, 2015
Had absolute lovely time. Went to Berjaya for our honeymoon and I can honestly say that Berjaya and Langkawi as a whole is a beautiful, romantic, and paradise-like place to visit. Hotel are very accomdating, friendly and always happy to go an extra mile for you. We got exec room on beach, waves did cause a lot of noise but both of us enjoyed this and infact helped us to get to bed. Occasionally saw the monkey near our room however no troubles from them whatsover. Cons: shuttle service from your room to main lobby is slightly slow and tedious, they should allow personel cars or motorbikes next to room, may work out better, however I do see why they don't allow this(pollution, little space). Beach was smaller than anticipated, and that meant less privacy for my and my wife. Occasional stray dogs were found on our morning walk. Good sports facilities, definitely recommended the doughnut ride. Overall- would love to come back despite cons mentioned as the pros most definitely overruled the cons. Peace to you all.

Pros: prompt shuttle service to ferry guests to their chalets
Cons: maintenance, cleanliness around chalets, food at restaurants esp. lunch/dinner etc. surprisingly the complimentary breakfast was much better
Leaking airconditioner in room - truly a rainforest experience. Dayang cafe very poor food experience - at lunch as well as the buffet dinner was disappointing. Breakfast was perhaps the only saving grace.

The best resort I've ever stayed atPosted Jul 15, 2015
Berjaya was great. We stayed in a rainforest chalet and it was fantastic. Good size, clean, modern amenities and a nice balcony to eat your room service. Resturants and activities within the resort are obviously going to more expensive than the rest of the island but still affordable. The resort staff were the most polite and helpful people I have ever encountered and made our stay the best it could be. The main town of kuah is about a 30 minute drive but to be honest there's not a lot there that you need to see. Would definitely recommend this resort, especially to those who are looking for a nice romantic get away

A nice resortPosted Jun 24, 2015
It's a very big resort locating a bit far away from city centre. The only attraction nearby is oriental village. Staying there for 2 days should be an option for visiting Langkawi. The beach view was very nice. Or the swimming pool and spa can help to kill time. There is variety of water sports but seem not for advanced player. Buffet there isn't expensive with quality food. They also provide discount for a buffet and offer welcome drink. The surrounding environment there is excellent, very natural. Wild animals may visit the balcony (I found a cat, but she left when I tried to approach T_T). On the other hand, the resort is too big. I needed to spend 10 minutes to wait for shuttle from lobby to my room in rushed hours. And it also takes longer time to other attractions. Taxi fare can be equal to a half day local tour. Breakfast isn't included, but I would taste my breakfast in the balcony. Overall, the experience in the hotel was still nice.

Poor hotel who dislike Expedia bookingsPosted Jun 11, 2015
Pros: Seeing monkeys.... but you can see them anywhere
Cons: Everything - customer service, check-in/check-out, damp smell in rooms, flies on breakfast buffet, limited tea options at breakfast, food
Location: Close to the tacky oriental village and cable car. Close to the waterfalls - only redeeming feature of the island. Best place to eat: Perdana Quay
I'd avoid this hotel and Langkawi in general. The first impression of the hotel was that it was a disneyland/centre parcs hybrid. It is a huge resort. Yes the rainforest chalets are novel and you can walk to the cable car and waterfall.... but the rooms smell and are outdated. The staff are hugely unfriendly and the island is quite tacky and lacking in any culture or decent food. Why go so far for an island when you cannot enjoy the sea and can get better service else where? This hotel lacks ANY personal touch. They also seemed to have a huge issue with an Expedia booking - grumpily asking us to email our confirmation to them on arrival, even though they had us in the system. Then the same deal upon check-out. There was a big fuss about them having a copy of our expedia email. They made sure we knew they didn't rate our booking. Check-out and check-in was the longest and most painful we have ever experienced. I don't remember any staff, bar the security guards, ever smiling or saying hello. Do yourself a favour and go to the Perhentians or any other beach resort.
