Wonderful hotel

Posted Feb 2, 2016
My friends and I had a fantastic time staying at the Berjaya. The hotel is set in a beautiful location with a private beach set right next to the national park. The majority of the rooms are little chalets set in the rainforest, we were fortunate our chalet was set quite close to the pool/beach area however some rooms were further away which could be annoying if you aren't that mobile (although they have an efficient shuttle service to transfer you if needed). We encountered loads of wildlife walking around the hotel including eagles, hornbills, monkeys and even wild boar! The staff are always friendly and welcoming and the food was great- they had loads of different restaurants to go to so food choices didn't becoming boring over the week. Our highlight was eating in the Thai restaurant on the pier. The oriental village is a short walk/shuttle away where you can buy gifts and cheap bottled water. Would definitely recommend and stay there again one day.

Große Anlage mit Stärken und Schwächen

Posted Feb 1, 2016
Pros: Guter Erholungswert, keine nervige Animation

Great private chalets and location

Posted Feb 1, 2016
Pros: Natural surrounds, pool and beach and great breakfast buffet
Cons: More training for reception staff, did not seem to give the impression they knew what they were doing.
Location: You don't have to leave the resort but close by is local shopping and the cable car is well worth a visit, views from the top are spectacular.
Spent lovely 5 nights here, very good facilities and love the privacy of your own private chalet. Nice change from hotel corridors and rooms. Balconies give a chance to feel close to nature with monkeys entertaining us from a distance. Enjoyed the relaxing pool and beach cabanas but could do other water sports if you like. Reception staff did give wrong information about opening times and booking of restaurants as well as not placing our names on the list for morning nature walks. More training needs to be given to reception staff as they do not make you feel confident that you have the right information or that they know what they are doing. Shuttle and other staff were all great and efficient.

Well designed chalet hotel

Posted Jan 28, 2016
Pros: Setting of chalets. Good beach and swimming
Cons: Main restaurant food
Location: Very handy for cable car (which we did not use because crowded and expensive
A large complex of chalets ,cleverly set out over a large area, with shuttle bus service to main hotel buildings. Very comfortable chalet, excellent pool and easy access to a sandy private beach. Rather large and impersonal main restaurant serving international buffet food. Vast range and quantity, but a bit bland.

Don't expect service

Posted Jan 26, 2016
Room not ready even when checking in an hour after check in time. Guest counter had no signs advising which side was for checking in or out which added to frustration (another guest I witnessed experienced the confusion and frustration when checking out). Room assigned stunk of cigarettes despite them knowing I have an infant. Parts of the floor were sticky, residual hairs everywhere, the sink was dirty, the curtains had stains, the baby cot had a dead bug in it (and filthy), it took them over three hours to move us to a cleaner room, which was remarkably much cleaner. Then same night, it took room service 1.5 hours to deliver some wine glasses and cork opener (only after 4 repeated chasers and an incredibly rude room service attendant on the other end who lost her temper at me, the guest). It was only on our last day at breakfast, that we experienced some service, where the supervisor noticed my wife fanning our child, then arranged for us to be moved to a table under a fan. The shuttle service was probably the only other thing that worked, at least it was regular and timely. But judging the reaction from some other guests, I suspect they may not share this sentiment. I suspect this is also a corporate culture theme; despite having sent them an email articulating my displeasure same day, I have yet to receive a response from Berjaya Hotel group. The highlight however, was eating at the Pahn-Thai restaurant that is situated inside the resort along the jetty.

Beautiful resort and views

Posted Jan 14, 2016
Overall the chalet we stayed in was absolutely amazing, lots of privacy and breathtaking views . Our chalet with a sea view was not ready when we arrived , they quickly upgraded us to a chalet on the sea front for free :) the breakfast was a very large variety and worth paying the extra . Only downside is the resort is quite far out from the rest of the islands places of interest. If your happy to stay at the resort for most of your visit then it's beautiful location . But if you want to visit the rest of the Island then be prepared to pay extra for taxi rides. In that case I would recommend to stay elsewhere. The shuttle service to get to the chalets is quite busy be prepared to wait 10-15 mins on most occasions.

Nice beach and sunset

Posted Jan 12, 2016
Pros: 1. location 2. service 3. cleanliness 4. sunset 5. restaurants
Cons: quite a hassle to get to chalet from pools and beaches.
1. The scenery is excellent with nice sunset view. 2. the beach is ok and activities are good 3. the restaurants are good though a bit pricy. Do not miss the sunset at the thai restaurant, you may need to reserve a nice place early. breakfast spread is good. 4. The room is spacious and cosy...balcony is big enough to do yoga and have a good nap if you are taking the sea view chalets. 5. The distance from the chalets to the lobby is far and waiting for the pickups are a bit long during peak timings so you may need to bring along a bag of necessities (shower at beach bathroom) when you leave the room to go for pools and sea activities. 6. the resort is located just next to cable car ride so it is very convenient

鳥の声に驚かされる気持ちいい朝

Posted Jan 2, 2016
