Nice hotel

Posted Mar 19, 2017
Lovely clean hotel with very friendly staff, lovely location as out of centre but close enough to walk if able to only about 2miles walk, only down side is it's quite boring of an evening entertainment didn't start until gone 9 and was only on for an hour or just over the hour.

Very modern hotel, close to the sea

Posted Mar 13, 2017
Pros: Contemporary, excellent service from staff in all areas, entertainment and enthusiastic entertainments crew. Cleanliness (no bugs to be seen anywhere)
Cons: Heating the pool.
Location: Location is quiet but with a lovely coastal walkway leading to Costa Teguise town. Free bus can be accessed outside the hotel.
After a bad start to our holiday (transfer didn't arrive), we were very pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the hotel. It is very modern and certainly offered great value for money. The rooms are spacious quite basic but very comfortable and lots of room to move around. There was plenty of food choice in the restaurant to cater for all and a snack bar and drinks bar by the poolside with a very enthusiastic entertainments team for those who wanted to be a bit more involved, or be like me and just laze around the pool area. I didn't go into the pool because it was freezing, and not many people did. No problem at all getting a sunbed, always plenty available and everywhere was spotlessly clean. Entertainment was very good with an Il Divo Tribute act on the first night which just blew me away. Karaoke night, live band night and magician. One and only criticism of this hotel is the pool not being heated.

Nice hotel

Posted Mar 7, 2017
Pros: Spacious, large rooms, sea views
Cons: Insulating the noise from the entertainment
Location: Plenty of activities in the hotel. Town centre approx 40 minute walk. Easy to hire bikes, cars, scooters. Lots of excursions available.
Not in centre of Costa Teguise so a good (but pleasant) 40 minute walk into town. Half the rooms overlook the lobby where the entertainment is, and as it's open plan, you can hear the entertainment and the crowds until nearly midnight so if you have children or don't want to be disturbed - you'll need to ask for a room away from the lobby.

Lovely except for very cold swimming pools

Posted Feb 25, 2017
Lovely food and great entertainment in the evening (except when they tried to shut the main bar area for a private function). They had Simon Barcelo holding a private party - well I spoke to him when he arrived and told him what I thought about that as he arrived. Out of fairness all barriers were then removed. Great sporting facilities too. Just a shame that pool so cold (they had recently repaired the heating so should have been working).

Dear Steve; On Behalf of occidental Lanzarote Playa I would like to thank you for sharing your comment. Let me outline that Simon Pedro Barceló visited the hotel due to a Comercial event, and the área had to be separate just for the meeting; as you will understand we could not have lot of kids running there by the time they was speaking. I regret if it caused any inconvenience to you. we really hope to have a future opportunity to welcome you again. Best regards

Not great !

Posted Feb 24, 2017
Pros: Not much it wasn't great
Cons: Staff, condition, entertainment,
Location: Location was not bad you can walk in about half an hour to better beaches and town
Supposed to be a 4 star - bar staff act like they are doing you a favour - reception staff are rude and unhelpful - lack of cupboards in room had to life out of a suitcase - condition of walls and wood was dirty and rotting away - some cupboards didn't even open and you had to scrape against floor - no heated swimming pool as advertised - entertainment was advertised at 830 each day but can on about 10 with people just left waiting - you gave to pay extra for everything, towels, Internet, safe, - bar looked like an airport lounge

Dear Julie; On Behalf of Occidental Lanzarote Playa hotel I would like to thank you for writting your comments, even it would had been nice for me to hear them from you directly and be able to assist you. I am really sorry to learn we did not meet your expectations even we try not to let this occur. Let me outline that some maintenance works took place in the heated pool , as we have to comply with health & safety regulations in benefit of our customers; but the Service of that pool was provided at our sister hotel just across the road. Now all the 5 pools are working and operational. Regarding the entertainment, it starts in the evening with the mini disco at 20.30; continuing usually with a pre-show and then the show of the night. .. My apologies again if our services and facilities weren´t to your liking. We Will take your comments in consideration! Best Regards

Nice hotel close to the small beach

Posted Feb 13, 2017
Pros: Choice of food. Sea view private balcony. Large double bed. Double vanity unit adjacent to bathroom with shower over bath. Clean. Quiet location.
Cons: Heated pool is a must!
Location: Approx 20-30 minute stroll along beach promenade to Costa Teguise. Nice quiet location with bus stops directly outside hotel.
This hotel is slightly clinical feeling (not a warm ambience) but clean and spacious. Everything is 'wipeable' so zero soft furnishings. Rooms were large with private balcony. Food was varied and plentiful. Heated pool was empty for refurbishment on our visit this time, and last time we came it was not heated. Disappointed on both visits. Sports facilities were enjoyable and easy to book at reception (small deposits on equipment required). Very close to secluded, rocky beach; ideal for snorkelling. Bus stop outside hotel for access to other towns and the markets. 20-30 minute stroll from hotel to Costa Teguise along a pleasant, broad walkway.
