It’s a nice place

Posted Nov 18, 2017
It’s a nice place, the building has good bones... change management from Hyatt to mandarin hotel... the place under Hyatt become tired look so new mandarin is doing a renovation to bring back the flash from early years this great building... when is completed will be incredibly now still a great place to stay... In general, the staff is welling to please... that is great... Good place, safe and good views... the only doubt is it’s no a place you can go walking around easy because they government built a massive complex ways next to... so you need a taxi to get around. Otherwise, it’s a great place...I did love to stay

Very nice hotel in good location

Posted Oct 16, 2017
Very nice hotel but will be even better when the Mandarin Oriental group have refurbished it. Disappointing no kettle in room for making hot drinks, I was in 1511 with an amazing view and would have liked to enjoy it with a coffee. Excellent Thai restaurant in hotel grounds.

Nice hotel

Posted Oct 11, 2017
Pros: Great location!
Location: Walk to Mall and restaurants. Turistik Pick up and drop off point next to Mall. Great location.
Santiago is a beautiful city. Enjoyed every minute. Staff in hotel esp. Nicole and Sebastian are very friendly and helpful when we can't speak Spanish. Had a very nice experience with Turistik Tours. Gabriel (even though he has already finished his shift work on 20/9/2017 @6pm- Turistik Tours Hop On Hop Off )went out of his way to help us get back to our hotel from Stop 8.. A bonus to his Company. Thank you to all the staff in Hotel Santiago and Turistik Tours.

Hotel is great. Nice pool area. Problem is the road construction in front of the hotel. You don't hear any noise but it is not easy to get away by taxi.

stunning hotel with slightly old fashioned rooms

Posted Mar 22, 2017 on Hotels
the hotel is amazing. No doubts. Rooms are very spacious, service is excellent. This hotel is one of the top 3 hotel in Santiago. On the down side: lack of charm, old fashioned rooms, very cold water in the outdoor swimming pool as there is direct sun only for a couple of hours. The AC in the room: either you're freezing when it's on or it's boiling hot when off...

Classic Hyatt of Yesteryear.

Posted Mar 7, 2017
Pros: The front desk, door men and housekeeping personnel were excellent.
Cons: Maintenance of plumbing syL
Location: Large shopping mall with numerous restaurants. Tourist bus.
The front desk, doormen and housekeeping personnel were excellent. Plumbing repairs to broken hand held shower head and toilet tank drainage system were made promptly. Television worked well although something of an antique. Several news channels, at least three in English. The air conditioning system worked well. The complimentary WiFi system was fast and effective. A mini-fridge was supplied, but no microwave. Supplied with complimentary tea water heater. The hair dryer functioned well. Room was spacious and quiet. The decor may be nostalgic for the Grand Hyatt hotels of a decade or more ago. Food prices were very high. Complimentary supplies of household items were made. However, combs and hair brushes appeared on the list of items to be provided but were out of stock and unavailable. Easy walking distance to huge shopping malls which contained a wide variety of eateries. A tourist bus was available at the same mall.

Great hotel with fantastic staff

Posted Jan 15, 2017
Pros: Everything
Cons: There was a late party in the grounds which was a bit loud but no real problems.
Location: Shopping mall.
Excellent hotel with beautiful grounds. Really enjoyed our stay. Everyone was able to speak English for us. The Thai restaurant was a phenomenal dining experience. Beautifully done, fantastic food and Barbara was great. Well done all. We'll be coming back to Santiago in part due to our experience at the hotel

Old Hotel

Posted Dec 12, 2016
This hotel was probably a success 20 years ago, it feels tired and old. Its a great building and a great location and beautiful setting but it needs an urgent remodel. They are remodelling some rooms, but the whole hotel needs to be redone. I visitd the W hotel and that was impressive, new and beautiful.

On the whole a good hotel - but 2 big negatives

Posted Nov 21, 2016 on Hotels
The hotel was of a great standard but we had 2 very big negatives. We paid to upgrade to Club Lounge Access. So we were paying for the lounge without the benefit of the upgraded room. The Club Lounge was possibly the worst I have ever experienced and we have experienced many. For the evening cocktails the staff were just not prepared and could not cater properly. Wine was left empty on the counter - not enough serving staff and the staff were extremely slow at refilling drinks/food. Food plates remained empty and on our first evening we waited 25 minutes to be served a drink. Too many people using the lounge and the service and quality of the canapes/drinks were not good enough. On the 2nd night they had even run out of water! The 2nd big negative was the Thai restaurant. I have never had such revolting food and it was not cheap! I ordered a green curry and my husband ordered a Masaman curry - it tasted like the chef had poured a whole bowl of salt into the curries - they were both inedible. We complained and they changed my green curry and it came back again sweet - tasting of sugar! I think the chef had just poured in sugar to compensate for the salt! We were not charged for our curries obviously - but to be honest I'm shocked we were charged for anything! We felt sick and had bad stomachs the next day. Appalling food - the chef had no idea what Thai food was!
