It was my second time staying here at El Cortez. The receptionist upgraded us to a Cabana suite on the top floor for somewhat of a view. The room was clean, security was always visible. We couldn't ask for more.

Pretty decent for an older hotel. Rooms could have been cleaner. Fridge didn't work.

Close to Freemont street but much quieter!

Posted Feb 1, 2016
Upon check in I was so skeptical of this hotel. I had booked a king bed in the tower rooms. The room we got was on the second floor facing Freemont, it had double beds, and the noise was so loud (it was a Saturday night) that my phone shook across the bed table. We stayed in that room for maybe 2 minutes. I was pretty angry at this point, went to the front desk and they quickly switched us to a queen room in the cabana suites across the street. The room was much smaller than our tower room, but it was just fine for our needs. Had a excellent shower. Most importantly it was completely quiet! Security guards were always outside the front door, that can only be accessed with a room key, I always felt safe and much to my surprise didn't find being across the street an inconvenience at all. Would stay here again.

Not what I expected.

I was not given the room I paid for! I was down graded to a room that was on the first floor and on the street side. There was foot traffic and loud conversations outside my window at all hours. This was a business trip, that's why I choose the Cabana Suite, I wanted a quiet restful room away from the LV noise.

Better than I thought

Great location. Comfortable and clean rooms. The only negative thing I have to say is that the guy at check in should focus more on guests. He was distracted with his female coworker and when I asked questions he seemed annoyed like I should already know the answers.

Don't hold my room hostage.

Posted Jan 29, 2016
Front desk staff very rude. I don't appreciate them telling me the reason they have to charge a room deposit is because of people like me. They don't even know me to make that assessment. I was very nice with them before that point so the comment was not appropriate. This is a problem as much for Expedia as it for the hotel. A room deposit requirement should be disclosed AT the online booking process not at the front desk. It leaves us held hostage when we are told to pay it or go elsewhere. Not a viable option at that stage of our travels especially when our money is already taken and we are on a budget.

Spacious room with comfort, refrigerator (no extra charge), large flat screen t.v. and sound proof rooms. Will definitely book again!
