very good hotel

Posted Apr 20, 2017
Pros: the cost of gambling & the very friendly staff
Cons: the alcoholic drinks i had could have been stronger, i did find the shorts especially southern comfort very week
Location: ideal location at the beginning of Fremont Street, which has outdoor entertainment on 24/7
The staff was excellent & very friendly, the gambling was good with the odd table a smoke free zone which i think more casinos would benefit from The only down side for me was staying in the vintage rooms which i found rather on the small size, but well maintained & very clean, the tower i understand have much larger rooms

Perfect Location

Posted Apr 15, 2017
Location is important in Vegas. Even though you are still a bop and a skip to the madness. You can just come back here to relax. And enjoy Seigals restaurant. I appreciate their restaurant and the staff that works the food department as well. Going back in September and booking the El Cortez again. They make my Chicken Parmaisan without marinara. Replace with Alfredo. Best

Rat pack style

Felt like we had gone back in time, and loved it. Slower paced casino without the huge crowds of the strip or even the other downtown properties. Learning blackjack and roulette was fun and low pressure. Comp drinks were plentiful and Siegles restaurant had great breakfasts for good price. Really enjoyed the stay.

Diamond in the rough

Posted Apr 10, 2017
I stayed in the vintage room with my significant other and it was located above the casino, 2nd floor. Yeah we had to walk up some stairs, keyword: some, but it wasn't a big deal even having to carry the luggage up. The hallways didn't smell which is somewhat of a big deal considering some of the other hotels I've stayed in that was a problem. The room itself was GREAT, especially for the price. We loved it! You don't hear any outside noise coming up from the casino or smoke smell, I mean, nada. The employees are extremely nice and nice enough to give us extra cups for the coffee maker. I would suggest if you're a coffee drinker like we are, stop and buy some kcups for yourself in the roast you prefer and creamer cups. The location is perfect too! Right across the street from the Container Park, cross the street the other way and you're on East Fremont, the art murals around are phenomenal and you can't beat the free parking. I will definitely be staying at El Cortez again and would recommend it to everyone. The vintage atmosphere, the pizza joint, the parlor, just everything about our stay here was great. I also live in Vegas, this was a stay-cation for me. It was relaxing and convenient and definitely worth it.

Quick stop

Posted Apr 10, 2017
Room was nice, bigger than expected. Bathroom was a bit dated, but clean. Room faced Fremont St., was loud, due to music.. a/c helped drown out the noise. Best bang for your buck in Vegas! I'd come back for sure.
