Delightfully surprised at quality

I didn't have any issue with this hotel. The furniture is oldISH but the TV is new, my airconditioning worked. I stayed in room 217, a single king bed.
I had read my requirements before booking, I had my cash deposit ready. They refunded it easily. Paid a $10ish resort fee for every night I stayed, but I was in town for a convention so I didn't use the pool at all. It closed at 7p which I thought was kind of early but, I don't think they have lights there to keep it open later.
I called and chatted with the staff to check where the bus stop was and other things nearby. If you smoke, there is a cheapish gas station a couple blocks away.
I had a great stay and they had bed bug covers underneath the sheets. I loathe bed bugs and checked everywhere. There was not one to be found. The carpet is old but looked clean. Had an iron, board, but NO HANGERS. That was a disappointment. I had a nice shirt I would have liked to have hung up. But again, for the price it wasn't that big of a deal.
Overall, I think this hotel has changed management since the bad reviews, or some of them are from opposing hotels trying to run this inexpensive one out of town. I used to work in hospitality, and THAT DOES HAPPEN. Anyway, I enjoyed my stay. One bad thing though. My last day, I went to the free continental breakfast and went to pull out my chair and something was on my hand, I shook it off and couldn't find it anywhere. Whether it was a bee or a roach, I'm not sure I really want to know. LOL
