This hotel is a two mile walk from the town with no shops/supermarket to purchase food or drink. We got breakfast and dinner but then nowhere to buy anything for lunch and they charge you for water from the bar/kitchen. The fridge in the room was only big enough to hold two bottles of water and didn't even keep it cool. Unless you got to breakfast at 8am on the dot the hot food was cold, and not a good selection or variety. Some of the staff could not speak a word of English and abrupt in manner. However two of the staff were excellent. The pool was kept immaculate and the views are stunning. Right across the bay and over Spinalonga. However this was not enough for me to recommend this hotel to anyone. This hotel predominantly deal with fully inclusive guests and I feel don't cater for anyone else and perhaps a small shop on site would make the stay a whole lot more comfortable.

Near enough in - far enough out!
Just home from a lovely stay at the Selena. The hotel is situated about 1.5-2 km outside of Elounda. It's s pleasant walk in along the coast path and there are buses or taxis in if you don't fancy a walk. All rooms, i believe, have sea views and what a fabulous view I had from my balcony! The island of Spinalonga, just opposite Plaka (smaller town approx 2 km away and in my opinion well worth a taxi ride away for it's wonderful array of different shops and restaurants) is in clear view from the Selena Hotel. If you've not yet read The Island, make sure to find time to do so before visiting if you plan to take the boat trip to the uninhabited island if Spinalonga - it will make the trip more meaningful. My room was spacious and airy and cleaned daily by cheerful staff. There are two pools - one which overlooks the ocean.

Well designed hotel in an excellent location
Private accommodation next to the sea, ideal for families. Short walk to Elounda and Plaka and within sight of the island of Spinalonga. Helpful and very friendly staff made out stay extremely enjoyable (June 2017)

Very friendly staff, basic accommodation. We paid £80/night for a suite (bedroom with a walk through room with a sofa in it),I think it was worth £40. The breakfast was the same every morning, fake bacon (cold), fake sausages (cold), beans- yes you guessed it, cold. The fried eggs and omelette were warm. One morning there was scrambled egg, no flavour and strange texture, probably fake powdered stuff, as I heard the mixer going for many minutes prior to breakfast being served. There was the usual bread, cakes, etc. Tomato & cucumber was the only veg/salad. For a country that prides itself on healthy eating and longevity, why subject the tourists to fake food.

Last Minute Bargain
We were lucky enough to book this hotel only one week before travelling at the end of July for 11 nights. Greeted with a warm welcome which lasted for the whole holiday - the reception staff could not have done more for us , booking taxis , tickets , sorting small issues out and giving advice. Rooms were cleaned every day. Breakfast was a decent selection of what you would expect with enough choice to mix it up each morning. We did B and B only but I`m sure the all inclusive would be good also.There was no fighting for sunbeds although they could possibly do with a few more. Free aircon ( first time ever in Greece ! ) and a free safe were nice surprises. The beach ( not sand ) is only a few yards from the hotel and the sunbeds are free for Expedia customers - everyone else paid ! We visited Spinalonga early in the day direct from Plaka to beat the crowds via the local bus service , Aqua Park and Agios Nicolaos - the latter being a little disappointing - very touristy and expensive food and drink. Each evening we walked into the centre which was a comfortable 15 minutes along a flat , newly laid promenade . It feels completely safe to walk around . I must mention one restaurant. On the way into Elounda , just before you turn into the main centre please try Okeanis. It is always empty but the food and service is fantastic - such a shame it`s in the wrong place. Overall , we had a great holiday and would recommend both the hotel and Elounda itself.

No hot water for the first part of our stay.
Booked an executive room last minute for a 5 night stay but there was not much to get excited about really, we didn't have any hot water for the first part of our stay but it began to flow after 2 complaints at reception, the bathroom has a very small bath and the shower head could not be connected to the wall to enable you to stand beneath it, so it was hand held. there was an odd looking electric cooker in our room with a sink but no utensils and only a couple of glasses ? All pretty basic really. On the breakfast front, well again very basic stuff and we struggled to get anything above tepid in the cooked breakfast selection, cant say what the evening buffet was like because we ate out mostly. The outside bar area was quite nice though and cold beer was on tap with a smile.

little gem at a great price!
my husband and myself were looking for a few days in the sun at Elounda, nothing extravagant as we had already had our summer holiday. We came across Selena Village Hotel which fitted the budget and in a good location, close to both Elounda and Plaka (if you're not scared of a couple of miles walk each way). The only flights we could get landed in the early morning hours so we got in touch with Selena to double check reception would be open at that time and also to arrange a private transfer, they were very accommodating and all was arranged effortlessly and on arriva, check in was dealt with very quickly and we were also able to arrange for a drink. The staff throughout our stay were friendly and always willing to help and the Hotel was clean and comfortable. We upgraded our room on booking and we had a wonderful duel storey apartment with two balconies and wonderful views over the Bay, which we could of had another two people staying and still have plenty of room. For a Crete 3* hotel we were very pleased indeed and could not find fault.

First holiday on my own!!
Enjoyed my stay but would have been better had I had rented a car ( a bit too far to walk in the heat to the nearest towns) Took the bus to Plaka and went over to Spinalonga which was very nice could have done with going on a organised tour with a guide, but it was still enjoyable. Also went by bus to Elounga and then on to Agios Nickalous both very nice lovely shops and lots of places to eat. I did walk to the local Despina Tavern one night for dinner which was lovely and then had a taxi back.

Everything you could need
Great hotel, the price was right, the location was excellent, the facilities were just what we needed and the staff went out of their way to help us with anything, including a lift into town on the first day to show us around! Breakfast was really nice, great choice, rooms were clean with AC and fridge/TV. No frills but good clean facilities. It's about 15 minutes easy walk from Elounda town, about 20metres from the sea. The beach, or shore line, is pebbled, you will need flip flops or 'coral shoes' as it's not easy on the feet. Regular buses from about 50 metres up the road from the hotel to either Elounda, Agios Nikolas or Plaka. Brilliant views all around. Pools were nice, again nothing spectacular, but this is a hotel for people who like to get out and about. It's good enough to relax in for a day or two, but stay here if you're wanting to see the sights and eat out. Hire a car as Well! But do it from a local company in Elounda.

Simple hotel with all that you need
Lovely, simple hotel on the beach with friendly, accommodating staff. It's a 20 minute walk along the beach to town or a short taxi ride. Great views over the bay. I'd definitely come back and stay here again.

Fantastic stay in a beautiful part of Crete
My partner and I stayed at Selena Hotel for six days in mid-July. Overall we had a fantastic experience. Our room was very comfortable, although the shower could have been a bit larger. The two pools were expertly maintained/good sizes, and we always had sun loungers to lie on. If we had to complain about anything it would be that they were understaffed for the breakfast buffet: although the food was good they seemed to be temporarily out of one thing or another (sausages, coffee, etc.) and we often had to wait 5-10 minutes for it to arrive. We opted against lunches or dinners at the hotel (we walked the 20 minutes into Elounda to eat at tavernas instead) so we can't comment on that. All in all, we had a very pleasant stay at Selena Hotel, located in a beautiful part of Crete - couldn't think of a better way to spend £58 per night!

Positives: Elounda is a beautiful place to stay with some great beaches and restaurants The view from our room was nice Pool was clean and was a nice area to relax (although we spent almost all of our time at the beaches) The staff seemed genuinely happy to help with queries although in most cases they were not very helpful, however not through lack of trying Negatives: Rooms were very old and dated Bed was very hard and uncomfortable Shower was broken and bathroom was very old and outdated Air conditioner did not have a remote control and was very hot at night Towels were not changed at all during our 3 night stay Bed sheets were replaced each day but they were just thrown on the bed and we had to make the bed each night No wi-fi in the rooms only in communal areas and each time you wanted to log in you were only given a pass that lasted 24 hours Food at breakfast was very average, after the first day I didn't go back Every time we needed to speak to somebody at reception we had to wait 5-10 minutes for the desk to be attended. The first time i visited the desk was to collect my passport from the receptionist after she didn't give it back after we checked in - after 10 minutes of waiting I got frustrated and just took it from behind the desk. Not very secure!

Great place to stay!
I was expecting quite a lot after reading the online reviews and wasn't disappointed! The staff were extremely friendly and so helpful - even offering me use of their personal phone charger when mine wasn't working :) The room was really clean and comfy with a great view. This is a perfect location if you want a quiet, relaxing break that close to the beach (right out the front door!) and in easy walking distance from shops and restaurants. I would highly recommend this to anyone and everyone who asks!!

It was great a lovely week in August
All was great no issues at all , we stayed in a maisonette it was cleaned every day with fresh towels. The 2 pools and beach were really good never had a problem finding beds. The breakfast was really good better than going self catering lots of choice. We are out in Elounda or Plaka every evening good choice and cost.

Stunning views & pleasant simple hotel
In a peaceful location at the edge of Elounda village, with a lovely seaside promenade into town. The hotel has absolutely gorgeous views to the mountains, sea and spinalonga island. Because the hotel is set a little bit away from the village and other hotels, you really get to enjoy the landscape and some quietness. At the same time it's easy and quick to get around, either with a car, taxi or there's a good local bus service just outside the hotel; a walk into town is about 20mins. The hotel is very simple but freshly renovated, everything is clean and pleasant. Staff are genuine, friendly and helpful. The rooms all have balconies or terraces. There's a lovely terrace for breakfast or drinks outside, with lush views. There are two public beaches with bars very close by in either direction, but the hotel also has a small beach of its own which is great if all you want to hear is the sea. All in all had an incredibly relaxing stay and would go again to Selena instead of the big resorts. (I'm normally a bit fussy so was worried the hotel would be too basic but it was simple in a nice way!)

We enjoyed our stay here, the rooms are cleaned everyday and linen and towels changed every 2-3 days or sooner if needed. Hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel is located about a 30 min slow walk away from most of the tavernas and shops but its a very enjoyable walk in the evening along the shore and a 5 euro taxi ride each way. The hotel itself is on a steep hill but with excellent views from the rooms. we found the beds a little too firm for our liking but had a double bed on request. Breakfast was varied with pastries, greek youghurt, cereals, toast, meats, cheese, salad and fruit (tinned), fried and scrambled eggs and bacon and sausages (although nothing like english bacon and sausages were hot dog sausages) everything is replaced often and it seemed pretty popular in the morning. The pool was clean but cold we only ever saw one or two people sat around it although we went beginning of september so no worries about sun beds. The beach, like many in the area, is not a big beach, it is more like a few rocks and stones with just enough room for a couple of sunbeds however there was a larger sandier beach a short walk down the road and more around Agios Nikolous. There is an hourly bus service two minutes down the road however not sure how much it is as we hired a car which is cheap enough out there. Overall a lovely place to stay for anyone who doesnt mind a little climb to their room!

Mooie suite maar hotel faciliteiten vallen tegen.
Suite is netjes en net nieuw, heerlijk balkon. Wel een steile klim van de receptie. Ontbijt is slecht en ontbijtzaal is zeer gehorig. Hotel is zeer in trek bij russen. Helaas net te ver bij het dorp vandaan om te lopen.

Wir hatten 3 Nächte gebucht. Als wir das Zimmer gesehen haben sind wir zu Rezeption und haben nach einer Stonierung gefragt. Da es schon zu spät um ein neues Hotel zu finden haben wir uns mit dem Personal geeinigt, dass dass wir am nächsten morgen sofort auschecken können und die übrigen 2 Nächte rückerstattet bekommen. Am nächsten morgen wollten Sie das nicht mehr machen. Wir wurden auch unverschämt belogen, der Manager hat sich versteckt und immer die Dame an der Rezeption vorgeschickt und sie haben uns nicht einmal ordentlich ausgecheckt. Wir sind dann einfach gefahren und haben uns für die übrigen 2 Tage ein neues Hotel gesucht. Noch eine weitere Nacht hätten wir es dort nicht ausgehalten. Eine Rückerstattung haben wir nicht bekommen. Ich kann nur davon abraten dort zu buchen!

Hotel bien situé, personnel très aimable
L'hôtel Selena est situé entre Plaka et Elunda. Très calme, il se compose de petits pavillons avec des chambres spacieuses et un balcon sur la mer. La vue sur la baie et l'île de Spinalonga est superbe. Le personnel de l'accueil est très aimable et parle français. Les petits déjeuners sont copieux.

Καταλαβαίνουμε ότι η απόφασή σας να μην παραμείνετε τελικά μαζί μας λόγω έλλειψης παιδικής χαράς καθώς και το γεγονός ότι η κράτησή σας ήταν μη αναστρέψιμη και άρα χρεώσιμη, σας έχει δυσαρεστήσει. Ελπίζω να καταλαβαίνετε ότι δεν φέρουμε ευθύνη για τα παραπάνω. Όσο για την καθαριότητα των δωματίων, θα ήθελα να σας ενημερώσω ότι γίνεται σε καθημερινή βάση. Κατά τη σύντομη παραμονή σας στο ξενοδοχείο μας, δεν μας αναφέρατε πρόβλημα καθαριότητας. Το μόνο στο οποίο αναφερόσασταν συνεχώς ήταν το πώς θα απασχολήσετε το παιδί σας χωρίς παιδική χαρά. Utmerket hotell som ligger mellom Elounda og Plaka. Fikk nydelig superior room med havutsikt og utsikt til Spinalonga. Stranden nedenfor var ikke noe å skryte av, men kort vei til sandstrand. Kjempe flotte basseng på hotellet og kjempe god frokost! Stille område. Anbefales!!

Rooms and equipment were ok, tidiness on the site also. A clear minus for the breakfast, big bowels with marmelade offered without a cover for example are in my opinion inappropriate.

Bra hotell. Ligger lite off från Elounda. Det blir en 20 30 min promenad. Standard helt ok. Alla rum har egen balkong o väl fungerade ac . På minussidan så funkar hotellets wifi bara runt pool o restaurang området. Inte på rum . Personalen trevlig.

Hotellet är ett bra medelklass hotell cirka två kilometer utanför Elounda. Det som är bra att veta, är att från stora vägen upp till hotellentrén och övrig hotellområde är en brant backe. Vet man med sig att man inte klarar att gå i branta backar, bör man nog välja annan hotell. Visserligen kan man, om man hyr bil, köra upp närmare sitt rum. Men det är smal väg, utan större manöverutrymme att vända. Rummen är bra inredda, och man har vidsträckt utsikt.

Nous sommes de fidèles clients de Selena Village depuis près de 20 ans .Ce petit hotel de charme est tenu par la même famille depuis 1981 et nous nous y sentons comme chez nous .Il a été recemment rénove et l'accueil y est toujours chaleureux .Le rapport qualité/prix est excellent et tout est impeccable . Bravo à Dimitri pour ses petites gaufres du petit déjeuner et ses mezze et retrouver Daniel à la taverne autour d'un de ses cocktails .

Encore un beau séjour à SELENA
Deuxième passage dans ces lieux depuis l'an dernier, nous sommes restés 4 jours. L'accueil y est sympathique. Séjours très agréable dans une très belle chambre avec une vue sur la baie de Mirabello exceptionnelle. Le personnel très attentif, discret et authentique vous garantira un séjours calme en famille.

Stort og godt rom. Sengen var stor men litt hard. Enkelt, lite men funksjonelt bad. Vi fikk usjenert terrasse med nydelig sjøutsikt. Hotellet ligger i en bratt bakke. Fellesområdene med bassenger var fine og frokosten var god. Renholderne gjorde en god jobb men personalet i resepsjon og matsal kunne vært litt hyggeligere ! Men alt i alt et fint opphold denne uken.
