This is an excellent hotel, first class servicePosted Dec 9, 2017
Cons: Make the bar area bigger, as it got full very quickly
Location: City centre near Palaza Mayor and Mercado de SAN Miguel. Easy walking distance to all main areas, Palace, cathedral and plaza del Sol
We found this hotel as an emergency after we had stayed in an Airbnb apartment booked for 4 nights, it was a disaster and left after one day. How glad we were to find this fabulous boutique hotel in the heart of Madrid. The staff were excellent and our room was a themed room with a glass floor( room 3) that revealed the old city wall underneath. The bar and restaurant were alive every day with customers coming and going. The breakfasts and the dinner we had were top class. With so many places to choose to eat within a 100 yard radius, the Posada del Dragon was full all the time. So glad we found just wish I had chosen it instead of Airbnb. If you go to Madrid you should stay there great price and service second to none.

Access to room not suitable, having to walk through NARROW open air restaurant and the noise from restaurant. Means of Escape needs from the room needs to be evaluated, in emergency evacuation i.e fire in kitchen and restaurant. Room was good and very clean and hotel location was good.

Lovely room, great location and wonderful staffPosted Nov 8, 2017

I highly recommend staying at the Posada del Dragon. I loved my room with a balcony onto the atmospheric old town street. Having seen the inner 'courtyard' rooms, I would definitely recommend upgrading, as I did, to a street balcony room. Although there is the inevitable street noise, it was always a happy bustle and not too loud (though I was there in the autumn, and it could well be the noise level becomes a bit more vigorous in the high season.) However, autumn is a beautiful time of year in Madrid, with gorgeous colours and still plenty of flowers and foliage tumbling out of window boxes, and trees dripping with oranges and lemons. The hotel staff is simply WONDERFUL. They did everything for me - made phone calls, printed directions, marked maps (endlessly!) and took care of a booking for a flamenco evening - and all with the friendliest charm, enthusiasm and cheerfulness. The room was spotless, with lovely soft sheets on a comfortable bed, with great pillows, and a fantastic shower. The only reason I give it a 4.5 out of 5 overall is because of the privacy issue with the bathroom facilities. I was travelling on my own (though this was a double room) and if there had been two people, the fact that the loo is only behind frosted glass, and there is no door for when you emerge from the shower, might be a little problematic. There is no kettle in the room, but a nice fridge. Take a travel kettle, coffee and tea, if you like this in the room. I absolutely loved my stay!

Small but everything you needPosted Oct 29, 2017
Hotel staff were extremely helpful and all spoke English which was key for me with my limited Spanish. The room was extremely small but had everything I needed. Unfortunately there were no windows that opened in the room and the AC had already been turned off for the season so the room was warm at night. There was a switch for "fresh air" which helped a little. Overall very satisfactory - I would stay there again and recommend to a friend.

Would never stay there again.Posted Oct 18, 2017
Bottom floor room close to the restaraunt was super loud, the room was definitely not sound proof. Couldn't sleep at night from the restaraunt noise or sleep in because the kitchen staff was banging dishes very eary. My shower wouldn't drain and when I came out, the bathroom was flooded, TWICE. Very disappointing considering I paid 1000$ for 5 nights. Woukd not stay again.

Can't beat this locationPosted Sep 6, 2017 on Hotels
This place is an absolute gem. This was our first time to Madrid and the location can't be beaten. Fantastic service from very friendly and helpful staff. Our only gripe about our stay here was the room itself in that there is a fire light (I believe this is required as part of their fire code) that is on all night. This disrupted our sleep a bit in that the room was not total darkness but had a slight orange/red hue. Additionally, there were nice toiletries available but that didn't include hand soap.
