Iconic location

Hotel building and room were fine but not as special as the price would suggest. On arrival the receptionist offered us a voucher for the hotel restaurant for 20% off an evening meal. Having travelled far and arriving at 1700, we decided to take the offer and eat in the hotel. However on receiving the bill we found that the voucher is only valid for part of the hotel restaurant. There are apparently 3 separate sections. So beware of this little trick. The waitress told me that other guests have also been misled. After a bit of a fuss, the waiter grudgingly offered me 10%, but it put a damper on the meal and our experience of the hotel.

The staff is outstanding. Extremely pleasant and helpful. The rooms are comfortable, and well appointed. I elected to stay in a room overlooking Lake Lausanne. Beautiful view! The only downside, and this is big during summer, is the air conditioning. It just does not cool as it should. The hotel really needs to invest in a new HVAC plant to ensure good air conditioning during summer months. Contrary to what some believe, it gets quite warm during summer -- temperatures of 85F on many days are common.

Lausanne Switzerland - Hotel Movenpick

What a great staff (Johnny and Lisa) at the front desk and a great location! Switzerland is expensive but this is a fair deal. We paid for a lake view and loved it. So close to so many things. We took a guided all tour thru Viator to Gruyere, a mountain cheese shop and made fondue, a tour of a chocolate factory (with sampl tastings) and a train tour. We had a great time and the pickup was located very close to the hotel. Be prepared for very high prices for food but we had a great time!

When the renovation is complete it'll be fine.

The hotel is having a lot of renovation work outside and in the bar area. The breakfast area has been relocated temporarily and the arrangements are 'chaotic' to say the least. Finding a empty table was a challenge, no table service etc, etc. My first stay was excellent, this one was simply acceptable. Hope they get it sorted out and back to normal soon.

Construction work

The hotel is exceptionally well-located with good views and access to the wTerfront and a 2-3 minute walk to a convenient subway station. Currently there is a bit of remodellimg happening T the front of the building but it is being well-managed.

the hotel staff were not helpful at all even though my kids 1 year and 3 years with me as they gave a very far room from elevator and extremely small and they asked me to pay 150 a night for a bigger room. they did not pick up the bags (self-service), you have to park the car. no smiles I don't recommend to stay at this hotel.
