Location: Famous Lava Hot Springs Pool and Hot Pools, Thunder Canyon Golf Course. Portneuf River Floating and .
The staff was great. No handicap access or amenities. Poor paint and bathroom conditions. Terrible bed. Beautiful antique furniture. Really expensive food. and nothing normal to eat. We read the menu and went somewhere else.

Dear Sandi, We appreciate your feedback and have noted your comments. We would like to address on a few of your comments: We are a historic hotel and are not accessible it is noted on Expedia as not accessible, but we will see if there is a better way to emphasize this. All of the mattresses are in the process of being replaced which should be completed around July 28, 2017. The hotel restaurant boasts a team of professional culinary artists featuring a unique & freshly prepared menu which is attractive to the majority of our guests. We apologize that you did not find our offering to your liking, but are please that you found alternative dining. Again thank you for staying with us and coming to Lava Hot Springs.

Better than your happy place.

Posted Jun 24, 2017
Pros: Rooms (furnishings); Attitude (staff); services (breakfast, special requests)
Cons: Zero
Location: mineral baths; local geography
Like getting to stay with your favorite grandparents, in their classic old home, when you were a child [...in a good way]. I was greeted like family. There were no ice makers or vending machines... there was a real person! who asked if I needed anything. When I asked for a glass of ice at check-in, they brought it up to my room. The breakfast included home cooked (yes, literally "home" cooked - not S. E. Rykoff warmed in the oven) hand made puff pastries filled with vegetables and instructions to "help yourself to coffee and what goodies are in the kitchen refrigerator." In the past I traveled for work and stayed at the very nice and very modern and clean high-end accommodations; this was so much better of an experience.

Facility has private mineral pools, and is close to public hot pools. Can hear external noise a bit.

Honeymoon Hotel?

Posted May 10, 2017
Pros: The period decor was beautiful.
Cons: Please clean up the hot tubs
Location: Lava is always a perfect getaway with wonderful local people.
After staying in different rooms around Lava, I was actually a little disappointed here. The staff knew very little about the history of Riverside Inn which is something we really look forward to. But they were friendly. And although they offered us robes and towels to the hot tubs, we were also disappointed in how small and in bad repair the 3 tubs were. The chef is excellent and breakfast was perfect with personal masterpieces we truly enjoyed but we could not afford the dinner menu.

Wonderful small hotel

Posted May 8, 2017
A historic hotel, more like a B&B. No problems with check-in. 1 1/2 blocks to the public hot pools and sunken garden. The restaurant was superb. I had the Almond-Cashew stuffed avocado salad. Super-delicious! never had anything like it before. Staff was helpful.

Charming historic hotel on the river

Posted May 6, 2017
Location: The town itself is so quaint. The locals are wonderful and ready to talk your ear off for as long as you have time. Make sure you visit the museum!!
The Riverside is a charming hotel that is on the national historic registry. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the operations manager, Elizabeth Tuttle, was so nice. There are 4 seperate hot tubs, three of which are private rooms and one is outside overlooking the river. Our bed was so amazingly comfortable we awoke refreshed and ready to enjoy the day in Lava. The continental breakfast was just right, the meat and vegie pastries were to die for!! We could see why it was nicknamed the honeymoon hotel. :) Thanks for a wonderful time, couldn't have enjoyed it more!

We strive to make stays stellar and are sorry to see that your experience was not better. The hotel has been going through continual renovations and is in the process of completing another one. The room type that you selected will be no longer available by the end of the year, which will help to save confusion in room types and selection. We do hope you give us another shot in the future!

Very quaint and historic

Staff was very accommodating, friendly and polite. Hotel is very historic, built in 1918. The decor inside walks one back in time. Very tastefully done. Very quaint and comfortable. The dining was very exquisite a fine dining experience. A very fine chef. I will stay again if I ever get back that way.
