Excellent to have hot tub experience indoors or outside at Lava Springs. Tubs might need a little updating. Great food out of doors with very good guitarist/singer as live music in the background

Wonderful historic placePosted Aug 25, 2015 on Hotels
We loved the vintage nature of the place and enjoyed the hot springs pool. One can only hope that the owners will find the funds to restore the facilities. Breakfast was ample in pleasant surroundings.

Close to the hot water poolsPosted Aug 24, 2015
If they would invest in new carpet new paint job and fixing the pool rooms it would make it a dream getaway. Instead it smelled bad it was musty and I couldn't dare go into the pool rooms

Bad start in an old grand buildingPosted Aug 23, 2015 on Hotels
Started out badly. Arrived at 8PM to find that our room was not cleaned, bed un- made, etc. The place is 100 years old and many sections show it. Hopefully the owners can put money into it, so as to give it more life. The building itself is worth a visit and the staff were good with the exception of the maid. Very good free breakfast on weekday mornings.

Overnight in Lava to enjoy the hot springs. The hotel is older with character and the mineral hot tubs are excellent! We enjoyed our stay and would definitely return!

Lovely historic hotelPosted Jun 12, 2015
Pros: Friendly, helpful staff. Extensive continental breakfast. Lovely common areas. Pet friendly. Price.
Location: Hot springs and water park.
We'd been curious about Lava Hot Springs for a long time, so when logistics worked out, we were very happy to visit. The Riverside Hotel is 100 years old, a gem when built and still charming but needing new beds and some updating. We appreciated its helpful, friendly staff, the extensive continental breakfast, and its being pet-friendly. We really liked the public space common in older hotels so we could hang out and get the best wi-fi connections. It was too cold for time outdoors, but the area overlooking the river seemed inviting. We didn't try the private hot spring facilities or the restaurant, both supposed to be good. The town is still a regular place, not gentrified or Disneyfied and the state-owned springs and water park well kept up. We recommend the whole thing.

Hotel with hot springs poolsPosted Jun 9, 2015
30 minute slots for hot tubs, private use. Nice hotel. No coffee, no hair dryer in rooms. Continental breakfast was good. Nice lobbies, historic.
