Multiple Red Flags

Posted Oct 23, 2017
Pros: Seeing it in my rearview mirror
Cons: Everything.
Location: If you need a bail bond, there's a place next door and across the street. All the things to do seemed to be happening inside the hotel.
We arrived very late in evening. Thankfully , I had already paid through Expedia so I did not have to give card thru bulletproof glass at desk. Family complained about stale smoke odor in stairwell, told them this was normal in most hotels. The odor on the second floor was not normal. Smoke odor of several different varieties, plus industrial cleaner immediately set my sinus infection on red alert. I did not want to explain what repeating grunting noises emanating from rooms were as we went down the hall; would have described them as "probably fighting". I moved vehicle to side lot, was greeted by young man who obviously was waiting for someone he could follow inside. I got back to room, family hiding in corner, only one lamp worked, but bathroom light worked. A/C knobs were just for show, because they didn't turn anything on, just spun in place. . Now, I'm hoping for about four hours' sleep just to get back on the road to drive safely. Family refused to pull covers back; so we laid towels on the spread. Sweating profusely, I watched the crack of the door for shadows like in the movie "No Country for Old Men". There was continuous knocking on doors all up and down the hallway. My family couldn't sleep because they thought people were constantly outside our room. After only 20 minutes, I was asked, "is it mean if I say I think things are crawling on me?" I said to their relief, "Let's go." We moved like a tactical team getting out of there.

Not a good idea

Posted Sep 27, 2017
I booked this hotel because my family and I had to evacuate during hurricane Irma. It said pet friendly in Expedia. First thing I noticed was a big sign that said no pets allowed. The place was filthy, smell of cigarettes was overwhelming. The original room we had had a Filthy microwave. Roach in the bathroom. I immediately noticed that the mattress was Filthy as well. I immediately asked for another room. I then bought cleaning items at Walmart, lysol, bleach, blankets and pillows. I cleaned every in of the room since we would be there for however long it would take until it was safe to go back to. Florida. The owners were nice. But this motel is not worth the money. People actually Lived in this motel. And unfortunately, the type of people aren't the ones you would feel safe to be around.

You get what you pay for.

You could feel the springs on the bed even though the bed had a mattresses pad on it. We had one small garbage can in the bathroom, none anywhere else. At least the room was clean and smelled fresh. We were both allergic to something in the room, possibly the laundry detergent. We also had to request light bulbs because only one lamp worked in the sleeping area. There was no hair dryer in the bathroon. Even though it was June, the swimming pool was not in service--no water.

Steer Clear of the Magnuson

Do not stay here unless you are willing to put up with a really nasty place or need to be within walking distance of a bail bond service. Arrived at 7PM. Doors were locked. Nobody at front desk. No buzzer to get attention. Pounded on front sliding glass door for 5 minutes until a teenager came from the back in his stocking feet and un-tucked shirt to ask thru the door what I needed. Said he had to call his brother who is the manager and lives offsite and we would need to wait outside 5-10 minutes. I started raising heck and when the bro got there, he would not give us the room even though it was paid for it through Hotels.com because he said I was being belligerent. Hotel kept my money, Hotels.com refuses to do anything to get my money refunded. Suspect rooms are rented by the hour. Also, this shows up as a Best Western because the online pic shows a logo. It may have been in the past but not now.

NICE SIZE ROOM BUT IN POOR CONDITION

Posted Oct 4, 2016
Pros: size of room- decent price
Cons: It needs to be totally redone in the interior.
Location: Good location
Room was nice size but that was its only plus. The whole hotel needs to be redone. Chair in room was disgusting. Mold and dirt in the bathrooms.
