Gateway to adventures

Posted Nov 18, 2013
Pros: The rooms are basic but quite adequate.
Cons: Not much you can do about this but if staying in a room by the road, guess what? You'll hear some road noise. Not too bad.
Location: Plenty to do! This was one in a series of destinations for us, not merely a "gateway". South Tufa Beach, visitor center, volcano hikes, Tioga Pass.
We hit this one in late October which is right at the edge of off-season. In planning my trip I didn't realize Lee Vining is at significant elevation -- 6,700 feet or so. Be prepared for cooler temps. We had snow which made for especially pretty vistas. Manager Patty was especially gracious. She was helpful getting us an extra night, helping with directions, and offering best-guesses about the weather.

I love this place!

Posted Oct 19, 2013
Pros: Location, view, ambiance, great bed!
When you book a hotel on the internet, you take your chances. This older facility doesn't look like much from the street but don't judge a book by its cover! The room was on the small side but charmingly decorated. The bed was firm and comfortable, the bathroom was large and well-appointed and the view of the lake cannot be beat! We stood on the balcony outside our room and watched birds until the sun set. Clean, cozy, comfortable and idyllic. What more can you ask for? Oh, yeah. The best price in Lee Vining! Staff was friendly and chatty, too!

Too High of expectation.

Posted Oct 8, 2013
Location: Nicely's restaurant across the street serves good food.
Beautiful view off the back balconey of Mono Lake. This is an older building with some modern updates inside and out. Flat screen TV, king bed,WiFi, etc. My problem was the very thin walls between rooms, no heat in the bathroom, no curtains in the bathroom window facing the street, (frosted glass only), no vent fan in the bathroom for odors, and finally only 12 feet from the entrance door of the room to the northbound traffic lane of Hyw 395. Maybe this was one of their cheaper rooms but I used Expedia to book and took what I got when I arrived.

Great location, basic hotel

Check in staff was not very welcoming and there was a plastic like mattress cover which made for an uncomfortable nights sleep. Room was dated but comfortable.

une vue exceptionnelle !

Posted Sep 23, 2013

Dreadful room

Posted Sep 19, 2013
Pros: The location was a good one, close to mono lake and Yosemite.
Cons: The rooms need to be REfurbished especially the bathroom
This was the worse room in the whole of three week tour of California. The room was dingy and unattractive in decor. The door to the room was a sliding glass door with a very feeble lock so we were worried it could easily be broken into. The bathroom was very poor, cracked pink tiles . The shower tray base had been badly "patched" up with some blobs of rubbery type sealant which were starting to come off and were not even the same colour as the tray, and the extractor fan on the celing was wedged with a bar of hotel soap , ( presumably to stop it rattling ?). The wooden cabinet under the sink was badly painted. Not even as good as home standard DIY let alone hotel standard for paying guests. Given the price of this motel (far more than most of the other 12 motels and classier hotels during our stay in Claifornia), this was a total rip off. The view of the lake was even blocked by a big tree !

Staying near sequoia np

Posted Sep 11, 2013
Cons: Update bathroom
Location: Near park entrance.
Rooms seemed to be do-overs. Basically was ok. We had a view of their dumpster instead of mountains. The breakfast said deluxe some places and continental others, it was barely either. The pool and hot tub were nice, clean. Close to restaurants. 6 miles from park entry. Price was very good.
