We were able to check in very early. The staff was excellent and helpful. Lots of extra special touches to the room, (robes, wine glasses, bottle opener) that made our overnight even more enjoyable.

A lovely hotel with great views of the city.

Pros: It was right next to my congress centre.
Cons: I was promised a VIP rating via Expedia but I didn't receive the promised upgrade and late checking out by the hotel. Tours did not pick up from hotel
Location: It would have been nice to have some shops either inside or outside the hotel because the nearest one required a very long walk or a few metro stops.
A very busy hotel with friendly restaurant and porter staff. The reception staff were more formal and unwilling to offer the added bonuses promised by the travel agent like room upgrade and late check out. The rooms were relaxing and spacious with excellent facilities and views. There were no shops available in the hotel or nearby to buy bottles of water for the day.

Corner Suite

Suite and amenities were superb, typical Fairmont. The hotel is actually on the outskirts of town per se so we needed the metro every day to get around. No big issue, something to be aware of though.

Great house keeping staff. Very comfortable stay. It's a 20 minute metro ride. For us it wasn't far. The train line, L3, takes you straight to the center of attraction,Las Ramblas. Hotel restaurant by the adult pool is superb.

Lovely stay (with a glitch or two)

Pros: Beautiful and interesting grounds. Short walk to Camp Neu. Beautiful pool area. Nice outdoor Terrace restaurant. Room well appointed.
Cons: Logistics around cleaning rooms and checking guests in.
Location: Camp Neu, University, Beautiful pool and park-like setting.
Beautiful grounds and great interior space - really worth exploring. A respite on the edge of the city. We arrived quite early - we had just come off a cruise ship - and the hotel is kind to let you leave your luggage and spend the morning in their beautiful lobby. That was great. They were aware we were checking in that day. Our room was not ready at check-in, and looking around, a lot of other peoples' rooms weren't ready either. This felt disorganized and somewhat panicked on their part; in fact they offered us free breakfast the next day. Once we arrived at our room (which was modern, well appointed, and with a great view), we relaxed on the beds but did not latch the door. Over the course of an hour, three cleaning ladies came by, opened the door, walked in, and said "oh - excuse me" and walked out. Three times. Apparently there was a list of rooms to be cleaned - but it didn't get updated. Again, a bit disorganized. The breakfast certainly made up for it - but I can't imagine this is how the Fairmont wants to operate (and I suspect they don't usually - not sure what was going on).

Not a fairmont experience!!

Pros: Outdoor pool.
Cons: Everything- the rooms were horrible. Old. Worse than a holiday inn. Customer service was terrible.
Location: It's only close to the Barcelona stadium. Everything else is pretty far. At least 10 metro stops to get to the centre of the city.
Beware when you book rooms with them. It's expensive but they put you up in old rooms almost 30 years old with threadbare carpets and extremely small bathrooms. Their version of queen bed is a North American double bed. Overall their staff was unhelpful. Extremely poor customer service. It was by far the worst experience I have ever had at a Fairmont property and I have stayed in a lot of them. So I know the difference in the quality of customer service and property. Don't stay here. A waste of your money. You can opt for better hotels at the same rate with better rooms and better customer service.

Nice hotel close to Camp Nou.

As a 5* hotel, some aspects were disappointing. The carpet in the lobby was not fitted properly causing me to trip a couple of times. Also the carpet in the room was thread bare, worn and faded plus the hand basin was cracked. Very very expensive as a small bottle of water and a glass of coke by the pool cost €10
