My stay at this hotel was delightful. The front desk staff were friendly, went out of their way to make sure my room was in good order. My room was very clean and lovely. Bed and pillows were very comfortable. Breakfast was well presented, plentiful and delicious.

Out of the Ordinary Hampton InnPosted Nov 12, 2012
Pros: This beautiful hotel is a restored and renovated historic mansion, so its appearance is more of a bed and breakfast than a hotel.
Cons: Basic continental breakfast.
Location: Close to historic downtown, abt. 6 blocks, or 10-15-minute walk. From there, other nearby historic sites: VMI campus & Washington & Lee Univ. campus.
We selected this hotel after a spur of the moment decision to go to Lexington for a weekend getaway. We had no desire to stay out on the highway, and no time to research bed and breakfasts. Since its location is close to downtown we selected this one. Beautiful restoration and renovation of a historic mansion, with the check-in area, lobby, and breakfast area in the historic home itself, and the modern hotel rooms in a wing constructed to match the original historic home. The hotel is located about 6 blocks to the charming downtown area and historic sites such as Stonewall Jackson house; it's a nice walk. From downtown, you can explore the historic campuses of Washington & Lee University and Virginia Military Institute. The staff is courteous, rooms are modern and clean, a bit above the ordinary. The grounds are beautiful, and as you stroll through the hotel, you have the feeling you're staying at a bed and breakfast instead of a standard hotel.

Great hotel for visiting LexingtonPosted Jun 4, 2012
The hotel room was very good, as you would expect from a Hampton Inn. What set this hotel apart was the incorporation of an historic building into the hotel with the new parts of the hotel built to look similar and the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff.

The HoneymoonersPosted Oct 21, 2011
My husband and I took our honeymoon at this hotel. We were very satisfied! The decor was lovely, spacious, and comfortable. The staff was personable and eager to help. The location was fabulous, because it was walking distance from the town, colleges, great restaurants and other attractions. I can see us taking trips here for anniversaries in the future. A gem!

My first choice when I return to my son's college!Posted Oct 18, 2011
What a pleasant surprise! I usually stay at a different hotel when visiting my son in college, and suffer through the experience. I am delighted to have found a new "Home away from home" for my next visit.
