Quaint, Quiet & Comfortable Friendly clerk, fast

Posted Oct 25, 2016
A bit on the Unique, side, this is a very quiet hotel. After staying in larger towns, busier hotels, this one was a welcome change. The room was in really pretty good shape for the age of the hotel. Full size bed, with a king size headboard attached to the wall. There was a full size refrigerator for folks who need one larger than hotel size. The bathroom consisted of a very large step in shower & a toilet. The bathroom sink was out in the room, by the refrigerator. Bed was very comfortable. Room temp was perfect for me. Parking directly in front of the door. The room easy clean, even with the motel age - no musky or funky smells. Yes, I would stay here again, and would recommend this place.

Spend more money, it's not worth it.

Posted Aug 11, 2016
Booked for the weekend, showed up and the guy in the odfice tried charging me $200+ when I reserved for less than $120 for the two nights. Took him way too long to fix his error. Also while I waited in the lobby there were dozens of easily spotted roaches and flies in the lobby alone that the man sinply brushed off. The room itself was disgusting. They said they had just cleaned it but it obviously had not been cleaned in a long time. The sheets smelled, the shower was filthy. My girlfriend and I opted to not shower that night because of the apparent stains in the shower. There were flies in the room, and I managed to sleep only a few hours. It was the worst few hours of sleep I've ever had as well. I constantly was awakened by noises outside and even banging on the door at one point but when I checked I saw no one. We left the next morning as early as possible. The only good thing about the hotel is they gave me my money back for the night I didnt stay. The place should be shutdown and their rates are overpriced. Spend the money stay somewhere better. DO NOT stay at this motel. Its filthy, overpriced, and not worth the experience.

Old, but staff very helpful

Posted Aug 7, 2016
Pros: The manager
Cons: It's very old and not very well kept.
Location: Limon, CO. We were just driving through and it didn't look like it was super entertaining.
We were driving through and we knew the hotel wasn't expensive (especially for a 6 bed room). But we got there and found that that room wasn't available. While three beds would have sort of worked for us, the manager opened the adjoining room so each of my kids had their own bed. That was really nice and made for a much better sleep for all of them. So while I wouldn't recommend staying too long at this hotel, she really went out of her way to make things right for us and we appreciated that.

The only place open with an available room

Posted Aug 4, 2016
Had to get moved twice until we had a room that was semi-clean and didn't reak of stale smoke. Ok to lay my head down for the 4 hours that I needed to sleep, other than that I would recommend not staying there.

Hotel should be closed or not on Expedia list.

Posted Jul 21, 2016
The hotel should not have been accepting reservations. Or at the least, travel websites like Expedia should not refer customers to it. From the outside it looks like it is falling apart. We had many problems with our room. The floor was filthy, not vacuumed. The carpet was torn in places, the ceiling had mold and was falling apart. There was exposed wiring coming from the wall. The A/C was broken; instead we had a box fan in the front window, leaving us without privacy or security. The door let in light all around it. The bathroom was not clean; it had dead bugs, hair stuck on the wall and bathtub, the bathtub was dirty. We should have slept in our car.

Major problems, poor choice, needed lots of repair

Posted Jul 14, 2016
Pros: Shower had hot water, but temperature controller failed. Temp went from very hot to cold and back.
Cons: New management, major investment to upgrade to minimum standards,
Location: Other equivalent priced motels on the same street. Grocery stores, restaurants and churches close by. Easy access to Interstate #70
Arrived, owner arguing with tenant, room not prepared from previous guest. Ice machine not working, some rooms with no door key. Limited TV, only four other rooms rented. The only business card in the office was from a local law firm. Owner's family lives behind the office, frequent screaming and arguing. Reception desk not manned, you have to phone for reception clerk. Much nicer, same price motels down the street.

Better Than Sleeping in the Car

Posted Jul 6, 2016
Cons: The owners need to fight the slide into decay that the hotel is facing.Everything needs improving from the cleanliness to the condition of the rooms.
The 1st Inn Gold in Limon was a quaint place that is now a mere shadow of its former self. The few staff that remain are overworked and undermotivated. Part of the motel is either under construction or condemned and the lobby window had a large sign on it that warned of no A/C. We waited in the lobby for almost a half hour before the night person made an appearance to check us in. The room we had booked through Expedia was unavailable, but she did provide us with a smaller room at a discounted price. There was no evidence of bedbugs. Even though I could have used a relaxing shower before laying down, the appearance of the tub and bathroom made me think twice. I slept on top of the covers fully clothed and left as soon as possible.

Avoid, or spend WEEKS in regret!

Posted Jun 30, 2016 on Orbitz
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Flatten it to the ground
Location: I-70
The lone star given is incredibly generous. So far I have killed 20 bugs, flies, mosquitoes, and other... The carpet was last vacuumed during the Reagan administration. The bathroom smells and doesn't work. So does the room. Like someone was too disgusted to use the bathroom and used the room instead. We were told the AC only works in 1/4 of the rooms. Ours does, but it stinks - so better not use it. Oh, and the non smoking room smells of smoke too. More than 1/ 2 the lights are broken, and so is the door lock... Our door was left opened for a few minutes, so another grouchy potential guest was cussing us for not calling the management (we don't know the number. We stupidly got this on the internet...). Management wouldn't answer the door after 9. I am afraid of him, so I will now conclude and turn off the lights... Oh, maybe not... The roaches come out in the dark... Woke up at 4AM. FLEAS!!!!' Sleeping in the car. DON'T!!!
