Interesting and pleasant

Posted Aug 23, 2017
I booked the hotel online to escape a heatwave in Portland. Not much was really said about the room on the hotel's website. You had to check in at the Starfish Manor because it was a beachfront conglomerate. I had never stayed there. So it was a tad confusing where things were located. We had a different parking area. Not a big issue. Our room was pleasant and comfortable. It had a tiny bathroom but was equipped with a refrigerator, microwave and tiny coffee pot, plenty of towels, etc. Our room had no view and it's window faced the walkway. It was easy access to the beach. The room was clean. The only drawback was there no Wi-fi connection due to the location of the room. It was like being in a bunker. We had to go to the parking lot to make calls. Not a problem for me, but my 16 year old hated it. Also, the room didn't have an updated local directory. Not a problem for me but for another person who is new to the area it would have been more helpful. The staff was courteous and helpful. Not all the rooms were like ours. Some had gorgeous views. It was a relief to escape the heat and it accomplished that. Hope this helps.

Hard to relax in once your in the room

They do NOT offer wifi if you are given a room that is located on the outer edge of the property. DO NOT believe them when they tell you every room has wifi. You can call front desk asking why there isn't a SINGLE network showing up and they'll tell you in an almost annoyed tone, "we're working on it" or "we're doing everything we can at the moment." This is especially an inconvenience because my cell provider (AT&T) gets a very weak signal at this location. Eventually gave up and stop bothering the front desk (they could've cared less if I eventually got it figured out). My family member had to make calls and send emails OUTSIDE in the wind at night. I walked around the building and discovered wifi is only offered to those on certain floors and rooms located close to the center of the building. Also there was a very large window in our room with a very large retractable shade covering. The shade was made out of paper material and blocked NO LIGHT OUT. At night the corridors outside the rooms are very brightly lit and so when you want to sleep the room is still brightly lit and there's NOTHING you can do about it. Unless you can sleep with lights on good luck trying to fall asleep. Paid over $100 to get a away for a little bit and left even more stressed than I started.

Nice hotel on the beach

Posted Jul 6, 2017
We went to the coast for our 30th anniversary and wanted a room with a hot tub that had an ocean view. This room was perfect!! The room was romantically laid out with robes on the bed and rose petals! The bed was comfortable and you could open your sliding glass door and listen to the ocean waves! We were on the sixth floor, which is 1 floor up from ground level. The only way down to the beach at the hotel is several flights of stairs, so that was the only drawback with a bad knee. Would definitely go here again!!

The worst room for the outrages price

Posted Jul 4, 2017
We couldn't take a shower as each time the water got cold after I stepped into the shower. The view was terrible, we couldn't keep the curtin opened because people walking by the window. The room stayed hot the entire time no air conditioner and we couldn't open the window for air because there was no screens. The room was so small and the TV had 3 controllers that took us an entire day to figure out as none were marked and no instructions. On a positive note there was a fan.

Not handicapped accessible

Posted Jul 1, 2017
An older building that has recently been updated. Ability to climb stairs is needed to get to any room. Bathroom is very small. Overall, very comfortable room. Bed has a stellar mattress for a very comfortable nights sleep. We did have a problem with the balcony hot tub. We called the office and was told someone would come out. An hour later, no one had come. I called the office back and they are closed after 9. At that point I called maintenence 30 minutes later they arrived. By that time we only had use of the tub for 30 minutes as 11:00 starts quiet hours. They offered to compensate us for this with a 30 minute later check out. Not impressed.

Dear Teresa, Our Beachfront manor hotel is a stairs only facility , however not all rooms require stairs, Our top two floors do not require any stair usage. I'm sorry to hear of your trouble with the hot tub, We do have a quiet time but it does not restrict your use of your private hot tub. We are a smaller hotel and our maintenance does not reside on property, I apologize you did not think 30 minutes was an adequate time frame.
