Worst accomodation experience ever.
This was easily the worst accommodation experience I had in my life. The bedroom itself wasn't that awful, but the furniture was run down and you could see how cheap the admin is. To the level of broken toilet seat fixed with ducktape. The bidet also had some silvertape to its corners. Not very clean at all. Apart from this, there's a bar on the floor level that will play music until 3 am every night to the point where your walls will shake and you won't sleep. I was also overcharged on the tourist tax for my daughter which is 13 - tax is applied to 14s and on. The area is nice, though. Avoid!

Apartment on hill slope
The apartment was comfortable but not very clean as there were food stains on the stoves and the towels looked old. The main setback was the apartment was located on a hilly area and hence, it was very tiring to climb up the slopes early in the morning after travelling overnight for 10 hours, plus having to drag our luggage. In addition, the entrance to the apartment looked like along a back alley which was quite messy. There was no space for us to rest in the building while waiting for another few hours to pass to be able to check in. This apartment is NOT suitable for families or older people but can be a popular place for young hikers.

Great apartment
Great apartment, check in is very innovative and you won’t be dependent on the arrival time, contacting owners for getting keys, calling to arrange meeting and other headache that you usually experience renting an apartment. Be careful parking the car in the streets in Lisbon, though. We got window broken and the luggage was stolen from the car!

The stay was fine, we didn’t get new towels or toilet paper the first day as our room was not serviced for cleaning for some reason and there was not a “do not disturb” sign on our door. Also the electric window shade was broken on one window so it let in a lot of light at night.

Great place to stay, a little noisy.
Room was really nice, spacious and clean. Check in was easy however because there was no reception, we struggled to arrange a taxi to the airport when we departed. The metro only runs from 06.30 and we had to leave at 04.00 and didn’t want to pay €30 per person for the shuttle the hotel would organise. If there was a reception we would have asked them to book us a taxi but instead had to ask a local to translate for us on the phone. Very noisy neighbourhood at night, especially at the weekend so had to sleep with our windows shut but it wasn’t too much of a problem. Otherwise the room and location was amazing.

The front door code we were given did not work. We had to call and it took 3 other codes to work. They have removed the soap/shampoo/conditioner dispenser in the bathroom. The combo washer/dryer has no instructions for usage. This was our 4th stay at Hello Lisbon and they're going downhill. The new check-in kiosk is a nightmare. You have to position your passport very carefully for it to scan. It failed to connect multiple times to a Visa credit card for the taxes. We tried a debit card and ran into the same issue. Although the digital display on the card reader never said to enter the PIN, we punched it in and finally were able to complete the checkin process. I don't know why they have complicated things with those damned kiosks. A big waste of money

Expedia! This property says that it has a front desk and that is incorrect. There is a kiosk which allows you to check in, this is fine but you have to let people know that there is no person to speak to!!!! Again, if we were aware and accepted that would have been okay. But when there was no hot water in the morning (or warm water or luke warm water) when we had to get ready for our early flight were we supposed to go downstairs to make a phone call to someone who is god knows where. Nope, we brushed our teeth and left. On a positive note the location is fantastic and the layout of the space was super cute. Also, the person who answered the phone when the kiosk wouldn't scan my passport was very kind and helpful. I wish I could rate the property on these last three things. Expedia needs to change the description of the property, it is misleading.

Area was very lively. The room was very clean and spacious. If you are happy enough to do without a reception area or hotel staff as the only person we saw was the cleaner I would highly recommend these apartments.

Non Traditional "Hotel"
These apartments are very non traditional. There is no reception, there is no interaction with a real person. One can contact someone via telephone next to the front door on the inside. There is no telephone in the room. Light switches were located in strange places without night light by the bed forcing one to get out of bed to turn on a light. The location is not bad once you get used to the walk up and down the hills. I found the nights noisy as there were outdoor cafe's just outside my windows. This is not the type of place I would recommend to anyone who (like me) prefer the tradition of a front desk with live employees. However, the room/apartment was clean but as a tourist an apartment is not what I would really need. So for a traditionalist don't book this place. If you are a non traditionalist and ready for an adventure, go for it.

I was a bit worried when I received a code to enter the room, as I was entering a bit late at night and there is no front desk. But the code worked and it was very easy. The apartment was so stylish and comfortable. I loved it.

Nice alternative to a hotel room
We stayed hear one night as an alternative to a hotel stay. The location was very central but in hindsight, I wouldn't recommend staying hear if you want a quiet night. It is located in the heart of the bars which are loud.

Terrible service, terrible accommodations. Their listing is 75% false and they will do nothing to accommodate you during your stay. In fact, they avoid any complaints until your stay is over.

Everything went great! I arrived at 11 am and check in was not until 3PM. They have storage area and provide you with a code to enter the building. Great room, comfortable bed, nice welcome amenity. Close to all the action. If you're not planning to live it up, then this is not the hotel for you

Great apartment. Very loud at night until 3 am.
The apartments are very nice. They are modern and spacious with good amenities. I enjoy nightlife and don't mind noise. However this was noise to a level 10. All three nights I was there (tue-thu) it was screaming drunks outside the window until 3 am. This is right above the loudest part of the Bairro Alto. I never thought I would give a review commenting on noise, but this was really something else.

The best place to stay to say HELLO to LISBON
First of all, we took a shuttle from airport to the apartment. Our driver, Filipe, who also works with Hello Lisbon was very friendly and helpful. Our apartment was ready when we came even if it was earlier than check-in time. So we were given access to our room. Our apartment was very clean and cozy. This may be an express chk in and chk out apt but you can communicate with the staff all the time. They always respond to my emails in a timely manner even before we left for Portugal. The only negative thing abt the place is that it was kinda noisy at night due to the location of restaurants near by. If you want a quiet place then this is not the right place for you. But if noise does not affect your sleep then this is one of the best places to go.

In the middle of the night life
In the middle of the night life if that is your thing. During the day this town where Hello Lisbon is located in Bario Alto sleeps. There is a bar on every corner. I arrived early and got a access code to store my luggage rooms are clean only the drapes which is electronic did not come down everything else excellent.

L'appartement est situé dans un quartier très animé tant pour le shopping, les restaurants ou les bars. Vous avez accès à pied à différents quartiers à découvrir de Lisbonne. Par contre, notre chambre donnait sur une rue où plusieurs bars étaient ouverts donc c'est bruyant. Aussi, le quartier est réservé aux piétons donc vous n'avez pas accès à l'appartement avec une voiture.

Really nice
You get a code for entry to the bldg and room. There is no lobby and I didnt meet any staff members. My apartment was extremely clean and roomy. There were two double beds, a living room area with a full couch, and a very big bathroom with tub. The place was close to the metro and many shops nearby. Great place. I will recommend to anyone.

It was a great place. Very clean. A few minute walk from the train. Lots of restaurants and bars in the area so it can be loud. I slept fine with ear plugs in!

Self-serviced apartment in Bohemian district
Nice, clean and spacious apartment in a central and vibrant area of Lisbon. By vibrant I mean it was very noisy at night time and because of the proximity to bars and restaurants you could hear people talking/singing like they were right outside the window. Next to no sound-proofing so bring ear plugs or go out! Check in was easy with the electronic PIN access to the main door. Lift or stairs to apartment. Inside apartment loads of cupboard space. Dishwasher and washing machine worked well. Open windows with electronic blinds for loads of natural light. Closed they provided blockout light. View outside windows was across the opposite side of the lane into other peoples houses. Bathroom was a bit small but had all the expected facilities. Shower head was disappointing and needs replacing. Biarro Alto area was buzzing most of the day and all night with activity. Bars, restaurants and small convenience stores are very close by.

We won't stay anywhere else in Lisbon!
In July, 2016, we spent our second stay at Hello Lisbon’s serviced apartments in Bairro Alto, which opened in late 2014. Again, we were absolutely pleased. We highly recommend Hello Lisbon to all visitors because of the locations of their hotels, the condo-style housing and the features of the units. The Hello Lisbon chain has quickly expanded to 7 hotels in the city. Bairro Alto, one of the old quarters, may not be the location for you. It is a very sleepy residential neighborhood by day, but at night the ground floor shutters open up into restaurants and many, many bars. This is Lisbon’s party area, but the double-glazed/paned windows and electric blinds keep out much of the noise and summer’s early sunrise. Although this review is about the Bairro Alto property, all their properties have similar qualities, décor and fittings. Next year, we may choose to stay in Hello Lisbon’s Cais do Sodré location. This area is basically at the bottom of Bairro Alto, along the Tagus riverfront and a is a quick and easy walk to the trains to the beaches. The Cais do Sodré neighborhood, once the “red light district during Portugal’s sailing days,” is now an up and coming neighborhood of its own. Regardless of which property we choose next year, it will be a Hello Lisbon property!

Couldn't sleep in Lisbon !
The apartment we stayed in was in the neighborhood of Bairro Alto . The location was excellent for sightseeing and restaurants. However on the nights that we were there Thursday - Sunday it was so horribly loud on the street until 4am people shouting, screaming and yelling ... I am not exaggerating . We have never heard such noise . Once the bars closed at 3:30 it took awhile for people to go on their way but then a few hours later the garbage trucks came by to empty the pails of bottles! This was such a shame because otherwise our stay would have been perfect . The apartment does advertise no smoking but our place did smell of smoke.

Great apt if you want to party
The place was what we needed - essentially a large hotel room by American standards / a studio apartment by European ones. Clean, newly renovated, convenient kitchen area, dining area and sitting area in addition to the bed and bathroom. You are right among the bars that young tourists and locals frequent every night of the week. It was loud until about 3 most nights -- which wasn't an issue for us, but could easily be. The doorway is often filled with partiers and the streets always are from 9 pm-3 am.

Great apartments for 2 or 3 people. Complimentary fruit basket was a nice touch, though Tea/coffee sachets would have been higher up our list. A caution about the neighbourhood was that there was a very high level of drug selling activity around the bars in the old town

Excellent position and a comfortable haven
We had an October city break in Lisbon and this was a great place to stay. The apartment was clean, tidy and in an excellent position. Do not be put off by the pictures of the address on street view, they are out of date - I'll put some current pictures up - the streets are not as graffiti infested as Google portrays. The bathroom whilst modern, needs a little tidy up - no plug for the bath which is corroded in parts despite looking quite new. The shower needs a pump and some attention to the fitting but these were minor gripes. Good sound insulation meant that although the partying outside might go on past midnight, we were able to sleep fine in air con comfort. Check-in and out was slick, the place felt secure and safe. Housekeeping seemed to keep their own time but fresh towels were there when needed. It was a very pleasant place to stay and I would recommend it.
This pedestrian street becomes a Tapas bar after 6pm

Great little apartment. Everything we needed. Great location in the middle of the Bairro Alto so really convenient for the city. However, because of that it is quite noisy on Friday and Saturday nights.

Party Town
The Hello Lisbon Bairro Alto hotel is situated right in the middle of the busiest nightlife in Lisbon. At first, unknowingly we got assigned a room in the very first floor of the hotel. Once we arrived, late at night, we had trouble even getting into our room due to the amount of people partying in the street right at the hotel front door. The taxi couldn't even make it to the hotel door itself due to the streets being all blocked, pedestrian only. Once we got in, the noise within the room was unbearable, it felt just as if we were inside a frat house. I called the management (since they have no reception) and let him know of the issue. Given it was late at night, he couldn't really do anything. Next morning, I realize the bathroom sink is flooding the entire bathroom. I then call again and finally they let me move to an apartment at the 3rd floor. That one was much better and pleasant. So if you ever decide to stay at this hotel, make sure you get a room in the 3rd floor up and be prepared to deal with partying young folks right at the front door.

Normally, our customers book at Hello Lisbon exactly because of the party location and its night live. I repaired the sink in the bathroom in the next morning. Clean, large apartment. The building has a code to enter , not a key. This code is sent to you by email, prior to arrival. One night this key pad stop working so they had someone on the entrance entire night ( till 5am in the morning) letting guests in the building. They fix it the next day. I would recommend this place to anyone!

I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Bairro Alto
The first thing you need to know about this hotel is to check your email before you arrive. This hotel does not have any reception. You will receive an email with the code for the front door and another code for your unit's lock. You can contact someone from the main entrance intercom in case you have lost or cannot access your email. ... I haven't been to Bairro Alto in 10 years and this was the perfect hotel. We had a 2-bedroom, which only cost us at the time another US$10 or for the upgrade. It was superb. We want to go back and spend a week in Bairro Alto and utilize the full kitchen as a way to save on a week-long trip to Europe. Bairro Alto is the party area of Lisboa, although you won't know from inside the unit as long as you keep the windows closed. Or leave them open and step out onto the "balcony" and enjoy the party. ... The unit was completely furnished with Ikea products and was perfect for our visit. There are plenty of grocery and specialized (meat, fruit, wine) stores in the barrio.
