Wonderful breakfast view

Posted Apr 17, 2017
Lovely hotel with amazing view over the marina from the restaurant. Staff were friendly and helpful and the room was spotless. Breakfast choice was superb. The indoor pool is a good size and has jets to soothe aching muscles from walking all day. Away from the hustle of the crowds in the centre of town (we were here at Easter), but only 5 minutes walk away and 10 minutes walk from the bus and train. The food at the bistro across the square was also very good. Only two minus points - parking is 5 minutes walk and is charged and we couldn't get in our room at 3 (waited until 4.45 for them to get it ready), was offered a drink while waiting, but felt that hanging around was the only reason for the offer.

Ideal location

Posted Apr 4, 2017
Pros: Everything! Excellent combination - modern but preserving historical features, in a very interesting location. A one off.
Location: Fabulous location, everything within walking distance and much to see, marina, beaches, historical features, lots of restaurants/tavernas+local shops
Beautiful hotel, lovely staff who all spoke English and were very helpful, professional and polite. We found this a very interesting and successful concept, wonderful facilities, excellent location, quiet, lovely scenery within walking distance. Excellent breakfasts and dining areas. Would thoroughly recommend. We enjoyed our stay immensely.

A beautiful hotel in a unique setting.

Posted Mar 19, 2017
Pros: See above
The hotel sits inside of the walls of the old fortress. The facility incorporates an art district that includes works by artists working there as well as other art and objects. The hotel itself is very modern and includes expected amenities like pool, spa, restaurant. Staff were friendly, helpful, and courteous. Getting in and out of Cascais to greater Lisbon is a snap. The rail station is an easy five minute walk and there are commuter trains to greater Lisbon a few times each hour. After a busy day in Lisbon it was nice to hope on the train back to Cascais beautiful and historic waterfront surrounding the hotel property.

A comfortable hotel. But on a couple of occasions when we returned to our room at 4:30 in the afternoom the room had not been serviced. This was especially disappointing on our last evening as we had to be up at 5am for our flight the next morning (the hotel were aware we were leaving early) and we wished to pack and go out for an early dinner.

Could easily be so much better

Posted Oct 2, 2016
Pros: Spacious rooms. Great view.
Cons: Separate bar from restaurant. Breakfast menu. Regular free bottled water supply to room.
Location: Central location great for beach area and restaurants
The Pestana Cidadela in Cascais is a well located hotel which is handy for the beach and restaurants. The room we had was spacious and had a nice balcony and lovely sea view. Staff were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the bar is part of the restaurant area and when large functions or big groups of people are catered for it can make bar service rather slow. The area does offer outside seating with a lovely view. We enjoyed breakfast sitting outside and there was generally a very good range of buffet style food available. We did not realise until the last day or our 5 night stay that you could order cooked food as well which was rather annoying. It was also disappointing that during our stay we only got free bottled water on 3 of the 5 days meaning that we had to purchase water from the mini bar for 3 Euros. In summary is was a well located hotel with lovely views and helpful staff which could be so much better with a few small changes.

Wonderful historic location

Amazing location - a walk down the hill to the town but not a problem for us thankfully. Room was comfortable with much needed air-con. Lovely pool area and a delicious breakfast

Very good hotel for visiting the local area

Very good, quiet hotel and very helpful staff. Lovely massage at spa. Breakfast not well replenished on one day and didn't get requested drink which let the 5 star status down

Relaxing historical feel hotel in charming Cascais

Posted Aug 30, 2016
Pros: Amazing service, beautiful location.
Cons: Access between parts of the hotel
Location: Beach, downtown Cascais, amazing food in Guincho, views.
I'm a former local who went for a night break in place I always wondered how it was. I naturally love the area. The location of the hotel is amazing, the staff was helpful and very very nice. Sad that it doesn't offer parking and the navigation inside the hotel to access pool, which is very small, was bit confusing and hard to reach, particularly for people with trouble walking. We had dinner at the restaurant Taberna da Praça and absolutely loved it! Food was amazing and service was absolutely spotless!
