3 star Hotel with 5 Star trappings and price

Pros: The sourrounding and common rooms were very welll don and xtravagent
Cons: Quality of bedrooms
I believe an earlier reviewer made the comments and I should have listened. Wife and I spent 4 nights here. While the Exterior and common areas are fabulous once you get to your room all the wonderment and elation quickly evaporate. The first room they gave us was a pokey double bed with a view of the road, what was not bearable was that the whole corridor was overpowered by the smell of musky cigars which made it a very bad experience every time you stepped outside your room. I asked to be moved explaining why and to ask for a king bed also. They moved me to the same corridor 4 doors away but this time with a city view and king bed...it was 11pm so I was in no mood to keep changing rooms. My wife and I agreed to stay and change next day. The room sizes generally are very small, certainly not inline with the expectation of a 4/5 star hotel, the TV in each room is an old LG LCD 19 inch with poor picture quality, no pay per view movies, bedding is poor quality. When my wife asked for couple of complementary water bottles when they made the bed up she was informed we only got that at check in and not every day. Certainly didn't feel like a 5 star experience. I like to usually chill In the hotel room, watching the TVs and catching up on work. This was the one hotel I felt claustrophobic in the room and just wanted get out. At check out they didn't even bother to ask how our stay was..that pretty much summed t up for me. Will not be returning.

Best hotel we have stayed in.

Location: The hotel is near Belem and within easy reach of the city.
Excellent pools, dining area, garden and spa. Staff are very helpful and made our stay enjoyable. Guided tours organised through Pestana Palace are excellent.

Three star accommodation in a five star setting

Pros: Location, Garden Setting, Spa and splendid public rooms.
Cons: More realistic prices for the accommodation available. Management must check the condition of individual rooms.
Location: Great location around 4 kilometres from the city centre. Taxis are not too expensive and there are buses nearby. Not a huge amount to do in area.
The Pestana Palace is an imposing and gracious hotel in the setting of beautiful gardens located in a quiet and pleasant neighbourhood. It is also extremely expensive. The problem is that it simply does not provide good value for money. The room my wife and I were given certainly boasted a lovely view but was small with a single toilet,single sink and features( such as a single toothbrush cup) which clearly pointed to single occupancy.Indeed my daughter's room was identical. The soap tray was hanging off the wall when we arrived and a switch on the wall was broken and loose. Marble tops were stained and the carpet had a nasty cigarette burn. The lift sometimes worked and sometimes didn't. We made a formal complaint about these issues and on the last night were given a plate of complimentary chocolates and two apples. When presented with the bill for incidentals such as mini bar and room service the hotel had added on my daughter's room charge in spite of the fact that I had paid Expedia up front! The hotel even added a charge for a telephone call we hadn't made. Miguel, the helpful and polite reception manager apologized for the errors and made a 10% deduction to my bill - a token gesture, I'm sorry to say. The breakfast was highly satisfactory, the staff helpful and the Spa was fantastic but remember it should be - this is a five star hotel describing itself as one of the Leading Hotels in The World.

the palace

Pros: the whole palace
Cons: pretty much a perfect stay
Location: not really walkable to anywhere but not far fro Balem
an amazing stay. everything about this place was wonderful. staying in a palace was a great treat. the staff was excellent, the breakfast was superb, the grounds were exquisite, the rooms were comfortable.

Oasis of tranquility in the city

Pros: Terrific restaurant, old style feeling with modern amenities. Nice pools (indoor and outdoor) a, gym and spa (we did not use the spa)
Cons: Turn air-conditioning on in the gym in the morning.
Location: Take a tuk-tuk to town.
Beautiful hotel and grounds with modern comfort. Just being there makes you feel good.

Great staff and beautiful place

The staff are great, respectful, pleasant and professional. I love that it is not a big hotel it feels intimate. The staff makes sure you're needs are taken care. Lovely buffet breakfast . The only negative is the bed is too firm / not heavenly bed

Great hotel in nice location.

Pros: Great hotel and amazing staff.
Cons: Have irons in rooms.
Location: 5 minutes drive from city center.
I was in a resort. The staff was there for me anytime i needed anything and they went above and beyond to assist.

Good hotel near city centre

Pros: I think it is the only hotel in Lisbon with an out door swimming pool.
Cons: Breakfast was always cold.
Location: Served well by taxis which are inexpensive and close to trams.
