Havre de paix dans l'Alfama

Posted Jul 29, 2016

A gem of an hotel with great character and history

Posted Jul 24, 2016
Pros: Friendly, helpful staff, interesting building, great breakfasts, brilliant location (but not for the infirm or lazy!)
Cons: Nothing!
Location: Situated right by the castle walls in the heart of the picturesque Alfama district. Fabulous viewpoints nearby. Everywhere is within easy reach.
With just 20 rooms, this hotel was intimate and very friendlyand had a 'boutique' ambience. Location was superb. The Alfama area has many steep and winding streets, but transport is cheap and plentiful if you get footsore, and the hotel operates a buggy to collect one from the taxi drop off point. Comfortable, flat shoes are essential. Lots of restaurants and cafes nearby. The hotel offers complimentary tea, coffee and little pastries all day, and has a lovely courtyard to relax in, as well as a characterful bar/lounge. This is the place to stay if you want to experience a little of the real Portugal.

The prettiest hotel I have ever stayed at

Need to wear comfortable shoes as it is quite a hick up there - but there is a bus to take up up most of the way - not sure of the cist

Eine Oase in einer erlebnisreichen Stade

Posted Jul 23, 2016
Cons: No.

Fabulous Hotel - an oasis of calm

Posted Jul 21, 2016
Pros: Everything
Cons: No
Location: Great location providing you don't mind walking up the hill
Service was impeccable, wonderful areas to relax inside and outside - cold water with fresh mint available throughout the day. Only very small comment is that the room was quite small but this would not put me off coming back.

Oasis in an adorable section of Lisbon

Posted Jul 14, 2016
Pros: Some of the highlights were the beautiful and quiet courtyard that is always open, a full breakfast with great options and the bottomless port!
Cons: n/a
Location: The Castelo neighborhood is charming and quaint and very "old world". It's a great area to base yourself and much quieter than other parts of the city
My mom and I loved our stay at this hotel. It's small and quiet and the ambience is perfect after a long day of sight-seeing. The trek up can be difficult for some (it's an uphill walk through the cobblestone streets of the Castelo area of Lisbon) but it makes you feel like you're a local.
