Handy to hospital

Posted Feb 14, 2018
We decided to stay in Little Rock for I am our only driver and it’s me who is diagnosed with lung cancer. We saw the positive reviews for this motel plus the drop off and pick up for Carti Cancer Center made our life easier. It is about two hours drive for us to travel home. It makes these appointments and tests easier if we’re coming up the night before for those early morning tests. It is also important to have the included breakfast and on site laundry. Several fast food nearby. Our one displeasure was a super noisy elevator that we feared would break down as well as it woke us up at 3am. Overall we will stay here again. Easily found the place.

Not bad

Free internet is a joke. Low speed and regular diconnect on phones. couldn’t connect PS4. Elevator was very old and noisy. Other things were good.

Nice hotel. The décor could use some updating.

For a last minute pick, this Inn met my needs. Due to the lack of amenities and the need for updates, it would not be my first choice.

Excellent staff - Very Clean Room (but heat trubs)

Posted Dec 23, 2017
Pros: The staff I interfaced with were very polite and friendly and the room was extremely clean.
Cons: Please see my comments (in 'experience') about the flawed HVAC system.
Location: Markham Street seems to have plenty of restaurants and University (just a few blocks west) is a major thoroughfare.
The only less-than-complementary thing that I can say about Markham House Suites is that the building I was put in (there is another building which has a different design) has design flaws relating to the heating system and it made the room uncomfortable until I figured out a couple of work-arounds. The building I was in is designed so that each room has its own through-the-wall heater/air conditioner. The problem with this design is that they tend to leak air and, when it's cold outside (when I arrived it was mid-December and a cold front had just come through), it provides an easy route for cold, outside, air to get into the room. This heater/air conditioner has a built-in thermostat which is thermally-coupled to the metal mass of the equipment and a very wide on-off temperature range which resulted in the room constantly either getting-too-hot or getting-too cold when the unit was turned-on. A second issue, relating to temperature, was that there was no supplemental heat in the bath room and a powerful exhaust fan ran whenever the bathroom light was on (this caused chilly/dry air to be pulled-in). I learned to warm the room up before going to bed and then to shut-off the heater completely (this was the only way to prevent the fan from running). By morning the room had cooled but not badly. While using the bathroom I partially blocked the exhaust vent with a plastic bag - removing it when finished bathing to purge the moisture.
