We stayed in a suite for a special occasion and picked Southport because it's on a direct line from our local train station so didn't need to take the car. Check in (and out) was easy, the lady on reception was lovely, friendly and very helpful (sorted out our late checkout). We had a drink in the bar lounge which was cosy. The room was gorgeous, beautiful views, robes, slippers and lovely and warm (-4 outside). Had room service pizzas for dinner, which was brought up by a very smart young man and all as requested, tasty and still hot. Plenty of towels, tea, coffee and bottled water. Breakfast the next morning was relaxed and staff were on top of everything, keeping the tables clean and replenishing items as they ran out. Lots of hot and cold buffet options to choose from. We had a brilliant time and thoroughly recommend this hotel.
The hotel is a short walk, maybe 10 mins, stroll from the train station. Overlooks the swan lake and very quiet. Plenty of shops, cafés and restaurants in the vicinity. Had a lovely relaxed drink with entertainment (singer) and waiter service at The Grand, followed by live band and something a bit noisier at The Chophouse until the early hours. Lunch was at The Hungry Monk and was also excellent - definitely recommended
