Excellent facilities; mediocre rooms.

The staff was very helpful. The shuttle drivers were excellent! The public facilities are beautiful and very well maintained. The hotel's greatest strength is that it is located right next to Victoria Falls. On the other hand, the rooms are in need of updating and repair--inadequate lighting, doors that have to be slammed to close, patio doors that are difficult to lock, and ill-fitting shower door. The problem is at the Avani you pay for a 4 or 5 Star hotel but you get a 2 Star room. Just be aware of this.

Very ordinary room ( value for money ) on an excellent property.Less said about the food , the better.Hardly any choice. Most of the activities are outsourced to other companies whose prices are steep.Only solace being proximity to Vic Falls.After staying in Avani at Bentota in Sri Lanka, this was a huge disappointment.

Stylish open plan hotel.

Great, really enjoyed our stay, nice atmosphere, nice to see wild animals roaming free. Closeness to the Victoria Falls. Very good service.

Knocking on Victoria Falls' door

Our stay at Avani over Valentine's Day was great. The hotel staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. The fact that it's at the door of Victoria Falls is just great. One can hear the falls' fury from the room and from the property grounds. Live music, great pool, delicious food and drinks. The funny monkeys in the morning and the guards chasing them away from the bar area is so cool to see... Very funny seeing the guards running after the monkeys but they never even get close. LOL What really made our stay though is the warm, friendly staff of the hotel. The bed comfort, the small sofa in the room and TV programming can improve though.

Great potential with some spiffing up

This is a beautiful hotel that just needs a good manager to tell the staff to clean up the zebra droppings off the lawn, rake the dead branches and leaves, get the breakfast area open and running on time, pick up the room service plates the same day they're left, etc. It's a gorgeous hotel and room and its sister hotel (Livingstone) next door is even better. Note: you can use their services while staying at the cheaper Avani. The pool area is very pretty and little used and there are extensive grounds for walking. Plus the Zambia side of Vic Falls is nearby and there's no entrance fee for hotel guests (it's $30pp on the Zimbabwe side). Lots of animals wander the grounds and, oddly, there are hotel employees with leaf blowers, Segways, electric carts everywhere.

Great Hotels in its Own Animal Preserve

Animals roaming the property, close to Victoria Falls and then could easily cross to Zimbabwe for the better view. Good food, although the buffet dinner is not worth the price. Eat at the pool side restaurant

Great hotel, close to Vic Falls.

Pros: Everything.
Location: Lots of activities. Too many to mention, but highlights were Vic Falls, a sunset cruise on the Zambezi and the Royal Livingstone Express train.
Loved the hotel. Everything you need. Very special to have animals grazing within touching distance and without fear of humans. Friendly and helpful staff. All speak very good English. Will definitely return.

Great place to enjoy Victoria Falls

This was our second stay at Avani and highly recommend it. It's a easy walk to the Falls, wonderful breakfast buffet and staff. The animals are a real treat especially the monkeys! It's a easy walk over to the Royal Livingstone for sundowners and close to town for the museum and market

Disappointing Security

The hotel is right next to the entrance to the Zambia side of Victoria Falls and includes entry to the park. Decent amenities at the resort, but it could use another restaurant and a fitness center. The activity desk is efficient at setting up various activities in the area. The security services were a disappointment. The hotel tells the guests to keep a distance from the animals and not harass them. On two separate occasions, the security staff did not stop guests from chasing animals with remote controlled vehicles. The second time, two security members were watching the person interact with the impala using a quad copter.
