It's like walking back in time

Posted Feb 24, 2017
From the outside it's a nice looking hotel from the inside it's like going back in time, old, dated, cold, windows that let in water, rain being sprayed through windows in restaurant when having breakfast, everything deep fried horrible old fat taste inedible food, rooms so dated it was like being in your great great grandmas house, a terrible experience and have been left feeling ripped off no enjoyment at all it's 2017 you should be ashamed of yourself Bryn Howel hotel

4 Days away.

Posted Jan 31, 2017
My wife and I decided at short notice to have a few days away in the Llangollen area. We picked the Bryn Howel. We booked ahead for Sunday dinner as it can be quite busy. It was, a group of 19 were in celebrating an 80th birthday. It was perhaps a bit noisy but, youre only 80 once. The food was excellent. We also had an evening meal on 2 nights and they were good as well. Breakfast was good too, although perhaps a menu would have helped with choice. No need for it to be a guessing game if you want other than full English. In line with a few other reviews, we found the hotel to be a bit dated. Bit of curled wallpaper here and there and some knocks and scratches. And some quite dark areas with all the oak panelling which was no doubt popular when the main building was built a few hundred years ago. Our room was a bit small but adequate. But it was warm. Bryn Howel is ideally situated between Llangollen and Trevor, with the Llangollen canal running right past the hotel to the world heritage site of Pontcysylithe and Telford's aquaduct. We would go back again, probably in summer time so we can explore on foot the canal each way. The hotel staff were very good, no problems at all. Overall Btyn Howel is a nice place, it just wants a bit of extra TLC.

Nice hotel

A superb hotel tucked away in a valley of beauty. Could not fault this place apart from one slight 'niggle' the internet wasn't the best. Although advertised, it could only be used in the lobby area!!

Reasonable stay

Very nice location, the hotel is comfortable and the staff friendly. The wifi signal was not very good in the room but it was reasonable in the public areas. The reception is not 24hour and when I needed to leave in the morning (around 07:00) there was no one manning the desk and the front door was locked. I "escaped" through the fire exit after leaving my key in the well-displayed box.

Could do with some TLC

Posted May 11, 2016 on Hotels
The bed was very soft and not comfortable And only an old fashion small portable tv in the room, wifi access was not working and shower head holder removed for some reason which made it difficult to take a shower Whilst freshly decorated and very clean the room was tired in other ways Service was good and the location was superb
