I really appreciated the decor at the Lion and Pheasant, very stylish, with what looks like Farrow and Ball Light Blue on woodwork throughout which made the thoughtfully modernised old building appear very tastefully fresh, nothing stuffy and dated here. "The Prince Rupert is peffectly located in the heart of the city, yet quiet and comfortable. The staff were perhaps the most friendly I have ever encountered as a whole team at any hotel ever. I also found that the hotel was very scentless - though very clean, they must use products without strong smells, which I appreciated as I have a reaction to scents. Just a very lovely stay overall! Our room #304 had the best balcony, and I would recommend requesting it when the weather is warmer. "

"Obviously a very popular pub serving good food. Our room was in excellent condition and very well styled to reflect the old features but embracing the new as well. I would highly recommend it. The free breakfast was a continental selection, but cooked items were available at extra cost. Loved our stay."
