Historical Hotel in a quaint location.

Posted Sep 7, 2016
Pros: It was a charming hotel in a charming street. That it was associated with famous people added to the allure.
Cons: The stairway showed their age and the hallways were dark and squeeky so refurbishing would add to the charm that should have been in a "Grand Hotel".
Location: The location was indeed charming. We only stayed overnight so did not do any touring.
All in all, we were very comfortable and found the location charming. We had a little difficulty with finding the hotel and with parking. Additional signage and descriptions in tour books in this regard might have eased the uncertainty that this caused. Breakfast in the Grand Dining Room was a delight; a touch of class.

A Gem of a Hotel!

Posted Apr 21, 2016
Pros: Everything, I could not fault the hotel.
Cons: Yes it could be more modern, but that would take away from the charm of the stay
Location: You cannot get closer to the centre of Lodz. If the bars and restaurants were any closer they would have to put them in the lobby.
Forget the reviews, stay here. Yes not your modern Hilton, Ibis etc, but a gem in the crown of Lodz. Rooms great, staff excellent, the breakfast, fit for royalty. For the price you pay it really has everything. Then there is the location, in the heart of Lodz. Don't spend your money elsewhere just stay here.

Affordable and convenient

Attended a conference at university. It was walking distance and close to local shops. Sadly no tours available to other areas in Poland. But no fault of this hotel

Faded grandeur

Posted Apr 30, 2015
The hotel is in a great position on the Main Street in Lodz. The street has been pedestrianised and has good bars and restaurants plus some interesting sculptures. The hotel itself has seen better days, or possibly years. The rooms and corridors are a bit past it. The decor is 'post communist chic' with nylon curtains and bedspreads. A CRT TV that didn't work and swirly carpets. The bathroom was from the 70s. Breakfast is good and the staff are really helpful. The price is really low. Think of it as a journey into the past and It will be okay.

Tired, but pleasant

Posted Sep 21, 2014
Pros: Central location, relaxed atmosphere.
Cons: More lighting.
Location: Very central, but not noisy. Many restaurants and bars, large shopping centre 10 minutes walk.
Rather gloomy not helped by an apparent inability to change light bulbs. The breakfast selection was narrow by today's standards, but all was good quality, apart from the bacon. Very good location, and surrounded by restaurants and bars. Would happily go again.

Nicest staff you could hope for

Posted Sep 28, 2013
The hotel was once the place to stay but is in great need of renovation. My bed was sagging in the middle and the first set of sheets were so old that they looked permenantly grubby, my wife would not have slept in them. They changed to white sheets midweek which looked fine. I wish I had known to ask at the start. The staff were lovely and tried to sort me out but the alternative rooms were no better.

great location, not too comfy

Posted Aug 5, 2013
Stayed for 3 nights. The location is perfect. Really central. Hotel a bit tired. The thing that let the room down was a) horrible mattress & b) lack of air condition (it w. as hot and too noisy withvwindow open) . Staff really great though.
