Busy area, little parking, close to sites.

Posted Jan 17, 2018
Pros: Close to attractions
Cons: Parking was not explained well.
Location: The cathedral and the street with all the touristy tapa bars.
The worst part of this hotel was finding a parking spot. I circled around for 20 minutes before parking 3/4 mile away. Once you are there it is fine. It is a 5 minute walk to the main attractions of the city. Hotel is clean and staff friendly.

Comfortable upscale stay on the Camino

Posted Sep 8, 2017 on Hotels
We're walking the Camino de Santiago and stayed at the Carlton Rioja for one night. It's just a couple of hundred metres off the Camino and not difficult to find. The location is quite close to the historic area where small bars and cafes abound. Our double room was quite large and well appointed. It was so nice to have a bathtub (shower combo) for a long soak. The room had blackout curtains so it was dark for sleeping although we didn't find the twin beds very comfortable. Our window looked out to a cement wall. The front desk staff was slow to check us in - a female staff was busy with other guests and a male staff member was preoccupied with busy work until the female staff member directed us to him after we'd been standing waiting for 5 minutes. Later, the female front desk staff member was helpful in arranging a luggage pick-up with an outside agency. Overall it is a very modern and spacious hotel in a good location. It was a nice change from most of the other accommodations we've had on the Camino. We would recommend the Carlton Rioja to other travellers.

Pros: Location
Cons: Some works at bathrooms
This hotel seems to have had better days. Well located, very clean, great friendly staff. No safe lock boxes in room. Small twin beds joined together.

This location was convenient for our trip as it was close to the old city as well as to our daughter's apartment.

Great location

It was close to everything going on during the San Mateo festival. Clean room and sheets, at a good price.

Touring with a dog

Posted Feb 9, 2016
Pros: This is a fairly modern hotel in the city centre, well located with parking below.
Location: Head down to the tapas quarter, (Laurel or something like that). The indoor market is dear but really good, just accross the espolon.
Staff were friendly, they allowed us to move room as someone had been smoking in it and were patient at explaining all the hotel facilities and the surrounding location.
