Value over Pamper

4 out of 5

Pros: Location.
Cons: More customer friendly policies. Pamper a little and be hotel everyone wants got go to, not has to.
I was startled at the low price but I knew the single room (single bed) would be small. It was but clean and comfy and modern bathroom. The breakfast alone was worth the price. Cost of room was less than I paid for a breakfast smaller than that in Paris. I was starving but restaurant was closed. They gave me a coupon for their sister hotel -- back at the rail station I just left. But they were courteous, attentive and my gnocchi fantastic.hotel requires you to check out a key if you'll be late or you can't get in. I took one just in case, fear of being stranded. Morning is what got me -- had to wait for clerk to get settled. Very little English but it was more the manner and the policy. Wanted to pay my bill, mini bar drink and buy the guide for rail tour I was taking. She wouldn't let me charge them together. I said okay, paid bill with my card and then handed it back for guide and drink. Only Euro, most of which I just s t cashed for Swiss francs. Soon handed her a 50 Euro bill. No, too big for my €16 purchase. No guide. Don't know if drink got paid for and had to rush to the train. Go with low expectations, enjoy the scenery and appreciative the value.

We were routed to the annex or upgraded to the St Jayne. Our room was great. Their restaurant was across the street in the Corona for a wonderful breakfast with coffee, fresh croissant and all sorts of good stuff...eggs etc. try their carrot orange @ lemonade drink. Really good. We could walk all over the town quite easily. Take in the Polloza Winery for a tour. This area of northern Italy is spectacular!

One of the better options in Tirano

Pros: Fairly comfortable, reasonably priced.
Cons: The breakfast was not great, and air conditioning in the room would have been wonderful.
Location: Not much to do in Tirano, but a good staging point for trips across the Alps by train.
You don't have a huge amount of choice in Tirano, but this is a decent option. The hotel is a little dated, but the room itself (if you get a room in the newer part of the hotel) is decent. The bathroom we had was huge and modern. The bedroom a little snug, but reasonably comfortable. We had a "mountain view" room, which unfortunately means you're facing the street. That means a lot of traffic noise in the morning, unfortunately. In general, fine for a night or two.

Nice hotel

Pros: The complimentary breakfast was GREAT. Wide selection for all countries and customs, great espresso machine, good food. Staff was very nice.
Cons: There was no air conditioning, which appears is common in Europe. Probably no big deal normally, we stayed when it was 90 degrees outside in mid-July.
Location: Great pit stop after Bernina Express. Small town with not much to do, but the hotel is in the center.
The hotel Carona was very nice. It was close to the train station and in the center of town. It appears it is going through renovations now. Although our room had not yet been renovated, it met our needs and the lobby and other floors were very nice. The complimentary breakfast was GREAT! Wide selection offered.

Great hotel, close to railway station, less than 5 minutes walk. The only complain was the size of the room, too small and bed was right next to door.since we did not stay in hotel much, it hardly mattered. Breakfast was way too good, much better than we expected. Staff was very friendly.. Overall great experience.

Pros: Lovely bathroom and view plus having a fridge was nice. Pity no tea coffee in room but I have own kettle and supplies!
Cons: Clear instructions for heating as I was chilled and couldn't work it out. Thicker quilt, cold until found a blanket. STAFF ALL BE POLITE AT ALL TIMES!
Location: Good location, near rail and nice town, supermarkets handy and lovely baker's shops.
Hotel ingoodlocation and deal I got was excellent value. Lady receptionist on arrival was very nice and even upgraded me to a lovely room for free. The next morning however the blonde waitress was very rude when I asked for tea bags to be replenished, she gave me a rude look and was ubrupt. The morning I left she was on reception, again she was rude and abrupt. She didn't even bother asking if I had enjoyed my stay nor wished me a good day.

Pros: The lady left in charge.
Cons: Everything else.
Location: Walking distance to the town.
Every aspect of the hotel needs reforming. The lady taking care of reception, breakfast etc etc was superb - professional, efficient and friendly with all the guests, adept in several languages.
