No frills, but everything you need

We were just staying for 1 night and needed a hotel near the tube, and which wasn't too expensive. The Amsterdam is literally 30 seconds from Earls Court tube station and this was a huge benefit. The receptionist was extremely friendly and welcoming and we felt Immediately at ease even though it was obvious that this wasn't the Ritz! The room was huge although dated and in need of a "refresh" and all bedding was clean, the TV was tiny, and I mean tiny, so not too good if you plan on watching movies in bed. We were on the 4 th floor which meant tackling 4 sets of steep, often sloping stairs, or braving the "lift" or rather the dumb waiter, as it was only just big enough for 2, very friendly guests without any luggage. breakfast was basic but staff again were attentive and kept on top of refreshing the food and drinks. Checkout was hassle free and the staff were great. Overall basic, but would stay there again.
