Disappointing attitude in a modern age

Location: Knightsbridge shopping and Kensington Gardens.
Didn't get the room that was booked on line. The Room was decorated with chocolate coloured walls and flooring making the room very very dark. The lighting was inadequate to deal with this and the en-suite door had to be left open to create additional lighting. The central heating system only blew out cold air. As we received our order of room service the maids arrived to turn back the beds. Thinking it would take a few minutes we invited them in. It was very uncomfortable eating our food with two maids pushing past in the cramped space with a bed time "theatre" that seemed to go on for ever. Just as we thought they had finished they began cleaning and wiping tables and sorting out the bathroom and folding our clothes. Really, we weren't that messy! Knowing their routine, they couldn't have come back later? The staff were obsequious and insincere, making polite conversation, uncomfortable. The staff referred to my husband constantly, like I had to ask his permission quite misogynistic, today really! The Manager was quite rude, telling me that we weren't going to have a very romantic evening, as we were working, and that I should be lucky that my husband had a job as there were people less fortunate than ourselves. Overall the last thing I needed was a lecture on social ills.

Disgusting treatment from this hotel....

I chose this hotel based on location & the 5 star status. It was a surprise birthday break which I booked 11 months prior, along with tickets to an event at the nearby Hammersmith Apollo & entrance to Kensington Palace for the following day. At check in we were told by Agnes due to a guest being taken ill the night before they had to extend their stay & our room was no longer available! Edoardo (front office manager) came over to say a taxi was outside to take us to the replacement hotel, he paid the driver and gave him the hotel details. We attempted to check in at the hotel but they had no idea what we were talking about, we had been taken to the WRONG hotel! About an hour after we left the Baglioni another taxi arrived who took us to the correct hotel, The Kensington Hotel. Due to all the time wasted we had to cancel our dinner reservation as we no longer had enough time for a meal. The Kensington Hotel is a 4 star hotel, therefore what I paid for our booking at the Baglioni was at least £100 more, plus extra travelling expenses. I can appreciate these unforeseen circumstances can occur but the way they dealt with the situation was totally unacceptable. Other than the promise of a discount or upgrade when we next book a room at the Baglioni we have not received any compensation, well it will come as no surprise that without this issue being resolved we will never choose the Baglioni again!

An exceptionally and naturally friendly hotel. Great location - walking distance to great restaurants, shops and parks. a taste of luxury in publicroomsand bedrooms. Highly satisfied with our 2 night stay.
