You get what you pay for when you stay in this property. It is a hostel so there is no maid service or towels but you have cheep, convenient and clean accommodation. The best tip I can give is to take ear plugs as it can be noisy at night with people coming and going.

This place is terrible in all sense of the word. The staff is rude especially the guy who does the night shift. They made a mistake with my booking and didn’t offer an apology and instead of helping me find another place to stay the two individuals who do the night shift sat there like two idiots. The guy told me to find another place and didn’t even care that I had payed money already. That guy is so rude he doesn’t deserve to be working with people. If he doesn’t know how to work with people he needs to find another job.

I liked that it was clean and that there was free breakfast. I wish there was an elevator. Staff were friendly, some more so than others. I had an overall positive experience. Some staff even helped me lift my luggage up the stairs, which was super helpful.

Ok stay but can improve lots
It was a bit confusing because I was expecting it to be a hotel as advertised when it was actually a hostel. Breakfast is very poor and of low quality food. Shower area should be cleaner.

I couldn’t even stay at this hotel because it wasn’t what was advertised. The room smelled like death, was dirty, no bathroom like promised. Staff was rude and unwilling to offer a different room.

Worth a visit for a night or two!
I liked the location and reception staff members. I did not liked the uncleanliness in bedroom and dining hall. Cleanliness must be upgraded. Provide basic, simple cutlery in the dining hall.

I booked for a room stay for 4 people with private bathroom, towels & shower but we were split into two rooms and had to use shared bathroom with many others. We were given breakfast as a complimentary and for the inconvenience caused. Staff were very patience, friendly and helpful.

Pay cheap, get cheap.
No beating around the bush- this place is horrendous in standards, I’d like to know how it passes inspections etc. However, for the price it is, in Central London, you can grin and bear it.

Nice location but some downfalls.
The eating room had a nice TV but only a microwave and no plates or cutlery and no access to sink to wash up. Was expecting better than this for a nice area of London. One toilet on my floor had an overflowing sink. I reported it but it wasn't seen to straightaway.

Short review
There was only one bathroom for the entire floor, shared for both men and women. There was only one shower and toilet. I liked that there was a sink in the room. It was very warm. The kitchen was very poorly equipped - no cups, nor cutlery, nor plates. We expected a kettle in the room, but received none. Our room was in the basement, a bit small, and the window was... well... big, but the basement type, with bars in it and very little sunlight. The staff was very kind and helpful. Lovely area! Sainsbury's and the Tube station are less than 5 min walk away.

Just for a night is ok!
This place is very Run down!!!! It seems very nice in pictures but is not clean well, bathrooms are dirty and No toilet paper in bathrooms...i always had to walk to the front DESK in the middle of the night to ask for toilet paper!!! just needs to be maintained... Other than that is very closed to everything such as Metroo, restaurants, super market!!!

A total waste of time taking uk to the stafff here Especially after booking g. Is Expedia and ebookers. The reservations are terrible they try and blam ebookers ior Expedia. Also our crew spent one night here and they got bitten bitten by bed bugs. Avoid at all costs as they have a no change or cancellation policy. Also evbokers are no good to sort out a u situation.

This hostel is in a fantastic area and that's probably the only thing going for it. The price for what you get could get you alot more elsewhere, a fridge or actual cooking facilities perhaps, but the tube station less than a 5-minute walk away is on the same line as the Heathrow Terminals and Victoria coach station. During my stay housekeeping only came once without reception being told that the room had been missed. There is also a cockroach infestation, which I was told was being managed, but quote "We will leave a bait box in your room but they haven't really been doing anything." Management make an awful lot of money but don't put much of it back in to improvements.

Basic, but perfectly fine. Biggest problem was that we had booked a private room, but the staff on arrival gave the distinct impression we would be sharing. In the end, we weren't, but we were totally unclear on whether to expect anyone else in our room each night. Bathroom was tiny, difficult to use if you're not a contortionist.

The property is close to the tube station. Close to all the attractions. That said,the cleanliness could have been better. Apart from that,the hotel staff could have been more helpful. I was new to London and the property. The facilities are not bad. Overall,it was an okay experience.

This is a hostel not a hotel and the one star was probably for the free WiFi. We had a private room for the 4 of us in the basement (bunk beds though my confirmation said single beds) As you walk down the stairs it smells like a sweat box. In the room there was only a sink and the closest toilet was 2 flights up the stairs. The room was quite dirty - the walls were a bit grubby, beds very uncomfortable but clean sheets. It was a place to rest our heads so we made the best out of a bad sitation ... we won’t be returning.

Refused to stay here!
So on arrival of the Barkston Rooms I was informed that the room myself and my friend was staying in was a 4 person mixed dorm, not the private twin room I believed I had booked. Straight up refused to stay in this room! Sleeping in a room with 2 strange men. The lady at reception was very polite and explained that there was a private twin room (1445 I believe) in their other building - number 19, but had been experiencing trouble with the room card key. She explained to test the key before paying the £100 additional fee. After climbing the 6 flights of stairs we got to the room and couldn’t believe the state of it. The window was broken, paint/wall paper peeling off the walls, door was not closing/locking properly. The communal toilets were dyer. Safe to say we did not to stay in this hostel. Looked nothing like the pictures on the website, felt more unsafe in the building than out on the streets. I can kick myself for not taking any photos, but I was panick searching for another hotel, which we found a more comfortable, safe and value for money in Victoria.

Booked a 2-person female room with a single bunk bed. Was given a 4 or 6-person mixed gender room. Personal items of occupants strewn around the room. No privacy or partitions between beds, no lockers that I saw.
