Dead Animal-2 AM Move

Had my step daughter stay for a week over Christmas. Happy enough with the small room ( she never got the TV to work but that may be more her than the Kensington Close) and complained about the long distance to the room ( there's an annex so some may have to put on their hiking boots). Still all was well enough for the money till she returned late one nite and to a terrible smell from the closet. Dead animal of some sort. We never found out what. At 2am she had to pack up everything and move to another room. That was disturbing enough but when my step daughter said she would I) like to leave a day early on a 9 day reservation (she was leaving early and just wanted to spend the night on a relative's couch). Hotel insisted on charging her for the night anyway (that's over $100). II) Hotel refused any compensation for the dead animal fiasco. A little customer service could have gone a long way here but this and other experiences by family members over the last couple of years suggests management has a hard nosed attitude. After all there's always another tourist coming through the doors, blissfully unaware that an animal might have died in their closet, and attracted by the location and slightly below average prices. We will be using the Tara Copthorne next door for the several thousand dollars a year we spend on lodging in Kensington from now on and have no illusion this review will make any difference to Holiday Inn ( whose name is on the building) .

Decent hotel but very small room

For approximately £125 a night my partner and i were put into a very small room, which can almost be described as a box room. The bed was comfortable but we couldn't even walk around it, such was the tiny size of the room. We gad to climb over the corner of the bed to get to the window. In addition, rather bizarrely there was a light (presumably faulty) behind the wardrobe which would mysteriously come on late at night. As a light sleeper i had two poor nights of sleep. Looking forward to a lie-in on the final morning, we were woken up by a cleaner around 9am as she knocked twice to do our rooms up. So on the whole i was disappointed by our two night stay for my partner's birthday.

Pros: Location
Cons: Improve transition process
Hotel switched to Holiday Inn on the day we arrived, unfortunately the IT systems were not up to speed causing check in delay of almost 2 hours waiting for our room to be confirmed ready and delay as room keys could not be allocated.

Nice hotel in a good location, only fault I have is the hotel has changed its name to Holiday Inn - Kensington and we wasn't told, this caused lots of confusion when we arrived!

Pros: Overall good hotel
Cons: Bathroom size
Location: Perfect location
Stayed here for a week, location is perfect, close to restaurants and transport. Hotel staff were very friendly and room was comfortable. Bathroom in general a little small but apart from that great hotel. Staff also helped with good places to eat, would recommend!

Good location to High St Kensington/Tube

Pros: Clean, good location, nice lobby area
Cons: The employees at the front desk.
Location: Good location in West London and less than a 5 minute walk to the nearest Tube station/the High Street of the area
All the employees that I interacted with checking out, checking in, and for asking questions seemed way too pretentious and high-nosed to be considered polite employees. They could definitely be a little less high-nosed and could smile more at their guests. I had no problem with the facilities, other than the fact that the front desk seemed they wanted to act/appear better than me than to be happy to help as their guest.

Great room for two for two nights

Pros: The room was very comfortable for the two of us. It was clean, quiet and well appointed.
Location: Close to the underground, cafes, Hyde Park and the Lamborghini dealership, if you like drooling over a car I can never afford. :-)
My wife and I stayed there for two nights. I put in some time at the office and she explored London. The hotel is well located with Hyde Park nearby, and a café or restaurant on every corner.

Wife's bag with perfumes missing-stolen from room.

Pros: Location- lived may years nearby, one of the best parts of London.
Cons: Professionalism, customer service and attitude from client-facing staff (reception staff were fine).
Stayed one night in hotel, where a new bag of perfumes went "missing" during our stay. After my wife got no redress (nor even apologies) from staff, I called a few days after from overseas, speaking to a "Ms. L," who informed me that "the hotel did not see anybody taking anything on their cameras". Unbelievably, she then proceeded to question whether anything was really stolen, and instructed me to go to the Police before rather rudely hanging up. An unbelievably rude and unprofessional attitude, evidencing the unsuitable and rather badly-trained staff. The hotel appears to be for sale (the family owners seem unfortunately to be based in Monaco, and are selling via CBRE), and the management seems to be in the process of being transferred to IHG, who are re-branding the property as a Holiday Inn. It is possible that this has reflected on staff morale, although this is no excuse for the present rudeness and general lack of professionalism. Let's hope IHG manage to correct the abysmally adversarial client interface we have experienced. The hotel rooms were recently modernized, but are somewhat showing their age already with peeling paint in bathroom closets, as well as having rather limited space.

Long weekend

I had a good 5 night break in this hotel, this was our first time staying here and I would have no problem returning.
