Very comfortable and well located hotel

Pros: Very clean and updated. Rooms were spacious and the layout of the rooms was well done.
Cons: There was a slight condensation issue from a ceiling access panel in the bathroom. I believe this was only an issue because it was very warm outside.

When we first booked this hotel, I had a few apprehensions about staying in Southwark because I didn't know much about the area. I kept looking for places in Mayfair and SOHO, but I wanted to be more centrally located to all of the attractions including Tower Bridge and the Tower of London. We also wanted to make it over to Greenwich so I didn't want to be on the opposite end of the city. I'm happy to say that this location was perfect. Just a block or so from the Thames, and had the added bonuses of being very close to Shakespeare's Globe and a short walk across the Millennium Bridge straight to St. Paul's Cathedral. It's also right next to Borough Market, and a short walk to the London Bridge Underground station. London, BTW, has the greatest public transportation system I have ever ridden. From this location, you have access to all of London and the surrounding areas plus it's a bit quieter and less crowded than Westminster. The Novotel at this location is a 4 star +. Nice sized rooms, very clean and updated. The staff was very kind and helpful. Even the bar called Clinks in the lobby was top notch. I'm more of a traditional pub type, but Clinks can make more complex cocktails if you're so inclined. Speaking of pubs, the Anchor is a traditional English pub (built in 1615, I think) right up the street along the Thames. It is awesome! It was truly my local, during my stay. I would have no problem staying here every time I come back to London.

Close to major attractions and quiet location

We enjoyed the stay at Novotel, the rooms are good size and the breakfast buffet was great and good spread. Reception staff are friendly and very helpful

Pros: The gym was ok.
Cons: To have a true description of the room, Extra beds to be more comfortable Better pillows Small details in room, dog eared paper work.
Location: Wasn't keen on location. Close to two tube stations but didn't feel safe at night in the area with children
Firstly Expedia need to think about their wording; 'Room with a view' shouldn't constitute a brick building from a filthy window! I take my children away once a year to London as a treat and try hard to find a hotel that is special so a room with a view of the Shard looked like a treat....... They were disappointed. The room was ok, nothing special , extra bed was rock hard and pillows were lumpy. Shower was a pain to get to spray in the right direction and had to take plug out of sink as didn't work. Breakfast was very busy and had to go into the dinner restaurant, slightly inconvenient , air conditioning was on and was very cold . I did ask for it to be turned off, as was shivering, but was told it would take an hour to work so no point. Staff kept hovering to see if we had finished as needed our table. Ten years of visiting London, this was one of my most disappointing visits.
