This property was in a very walkable location, and was uniquely modern.

Room was good, but not super clean (grime in shower and on pillow cases). Hairdryer tended to short circuit when used, otherwise it was comfortable. Comfortable bed and pillows.

Rooms are never ready early, but they will store luggage. The entire check in process is self- service on kiosks. Not enough people working to help with check in at 3pm. No phones on the room so you must call or use WhatsApp however they NEVER respond to the messages you send on WhatsApp. I am a VIP Gold member but did not receive any of the benefits including early check in and late check out. Wasn’t even acknowledged as a VIP hold member. Room itself was clean except for the floors needs to be swept and mopped better. The bed was not too hard but not too soft either. Manageable. Bathroom was clean and the shower head was one of the best I’ve had in a while. Area is nice in that it is directly across from the Aldgate East Train station which is easy access on the Direct Lines to great London destination like Big Ben, the Broadway Shows, Buckingham Palace, etc. the part outside the hotel, however, is dirty and has some questionable people hanging out. Overall good hotel, but they do overcharge for the rooms. You can sometimes get rooms in much nicer areas for the same cost.

The rooms are great and loaded with modern conveniences and the location is very close to two tube stations, however it is self check in and self check out with no actual hotel staff around—only the restaurant staff (who tried to be helpful).

Right principles but lacking service
The hotel itself is funky and evo-friendly, both of which align with us as a family. The decor is cool and the rooms were functional. Everything was hands off, self check in and so forth. There was a couple of staff at the bar. In the room were two phone numbers to call if you needed help 24/7. On day one the hair dryer in the room stopped working. Neither of the phone numbers picked up: the landline permanently said they were busy, and the mobile rang then hung up. So next morning I told someone at the bar. That evening, atill not working. You could send a whatsapp so I did. Got a reply 2 hours later saying they would bring one up. Nothing. Sent coyple more messages that were read but no action. Other issue was as a gold member I was told we would get a free room upgrade and two free drinks a day. As there was no reception and no-one to check you in, there was no way of sorting this out. Technology is fine and the values of the hotel are great. It was clean and comfortable. But everyone needs a personal touch. Closest we got was as we left and a great guy spoke to us and welcomed new arrivals.

The park directly across the street from the hotel is filled with very shady characters 24/7. We didn’t feel safe walking through there, even during the day, so we took the long way around. The surrounding neighborhood is just too dodgy for me. The hotel is nice, food is very good, and cleaning service is excellent. They don’t supply washcloths, which I found odd, but that may be a UK thing. I went to a local store to buy a body loofah to use in the shower. We had a problem with our tv that was fixed when we were out for the day, so that wasn’t a big deal. Check in and check out can be completely contactless and without waiting in line, which I really liked because I have social anxiety. The staff are very nice and helpful, I loved the food, and the hotel is extremely clean. I just wish the neighborhood was nicer.
