Super location, beautiful spot

Posted Aug 29, 2015
Pros: Location and helpful staff. We also liked the richness of the decor and the gorgeous flowers that abounded in the notel.
Cons: Our room had a very poor window.
Location: There are two theatres, Buckingham palace, Westminster Abbey, St. james Park, the Houses of Parliament, Victoria Station within walking distance.
We loved the hotel. The location is amazing. The staff, especially the concierges, were extremely helpful always. The hotel is lovely. We were able to walk to two theatre shows, to our Buckingham Palace tour, and to Westmonster Abbey and even Trafalgar Square. We were very happy with our stay at this hotel.

Great location-rude concierge staff

Posted Aug 28, 2015
Pros: LOCATION!!!!!
Cons: The friendliness of the concierge staff
Location: walking distance to Westminster Abbey and minutes from Buckingham Palace.
We loved the location which helped with the other poor conditions. The first room they put us in was by the tube and a construction site that was very loud. Once we got a better room, we could actually sleep. The reception staff was friendly and helpful, but the concierge staff was rude and snotty. Beware of them recommending companies that will only benefit them. Do your research on the best ways to purchase tickets and which tour companies are the best.

Wonderful stay. Great service. Nice size room, clean, beds very comfortable. 2 blocks from buckingham palace. close walking distance to most mayor attraction. Hotel has nice restaurants and just accross the street there are a few other nice reasonably priced ones serving breakfast, lunch n dinner. Will stay there again!

Probably varies which room you get.

Pros: Nice flower displays!
Cons: A lot of money and not sure that was reflected in the room.
Location: Near Buckingham Palace.
Staff were very welcoming although it took two attempts of asking to get our double bed made up as twin beds despite booking a twin room. Once that was sorted, everything was fine.

Comfortable Hotel with Attentive Staff

Posted Aug 11, 2015
My partner and I checked into this hotel for a three-day tour while we "did" London. The check in staff were friendly, the concierge were affable and efficient and all of the waiters/waitresses (barring one) were helpful to a high level of quality. This particular staff member (who worked in the hotel Bistro 51 restaurant) ruined the end of our stay because we arrived back from sightseeing at 9:45p.m. and asked if it were still possible to have dinner. After harrumphing about and making it patently clear we were going to delay her getting off shift, she grudgingly served us and never once bothered to see if we were enjoying the food. I know in many restaurants I've both worked in and visited, this kind of behaviour would result in either being written up or dismissal. Apart from her reindeer games, the hotel and all other staff were as helpful and friendly as could be! Depending on feedback I receive from the hotel regarding this incident, I would probably go back again and recommend it to my many friends...

Couldn't have been better!

Pros: See above. (Everything!)
Cons: (More reasonably priced cocktails?) Nothing really.
Location: It was around the corner from Buckingam Palace! Very handy for everything. Sightsee and shop.
From the moment I booked the SJC, I was treated with the utmost deference and respect. I felt like royalty! They responded to every query immediately and positively, they had a solution for every potential problem (I am handicapped) and they did everything graciously and with a smile. I needed a walk in shower. No problem. I needed enough room for my Walker. No problem. I needed an early check in. No problem. And when I arrived, unwittingly I was escorted to the wrong room (bathtub), I was immediately escorted to an upgraded Suite. The staff were exemplary, it was immaculate and the decor was amazing! I dined for lunch in their Michelin rated Quilon and for dinner in the beautiful al fresco Coutyard (using the Bistro menu). I think the moderately priced Courtyard dinner was the best meal I had in Great Britain with amazing lamb chops and a super Summer Pudding! One caveat however... The cocktails are very pricey. A Negroni was £12.50 ($25 CDN). Wine was more reasonable though. Plus! It was around the corner from Buckingam Palace! Very handy for everything. Highly recommend the St. James Court. I wish there were more Taj hotels in North America (there's one in New York and one in Boston).

a neglected hotel on a good location

Posted Aug 5, 2015
Pros: The location
We, my wife and son stayed in this hotel for 4 days. We booked st. James because we enjoyed our stay in a Taj hotel In San Francisco 2 years ago. We thought the service would be the same. A clear mistake. We had booked 2executive rooms on the executive floor. The rooms are very small and noisy. The shower is hardly giving any water. The rooms are situated on the 7th floor and if you look out the window you can see the building is not well maintained. Paint is peeling of the windows. The place where breakfast is served is way too small to accommodate all guest. In the evening we ordered some hamburgers and a club sandwich in the bar. Again we had to wait long. It took 45 minutes to serve . On the third day, Sunday, there was a que for the breakfast restaurant with a waiting time of more than 30 minutes. I finally decided to go for breakfast elsewhere because we wanted to see London. This hotel has a serious problem with the breakfast facilities. First of all the food is not so tasty as you would expect from a four star hotel. The problem is well known at the management, reading the remarks other guest made on Tripadvisor but the management don’t take this problem serious. There were plenty of alternatives to serve like the terrace outside, it was a beautiful day, or the facilities on the first floor, but apparently this is too much trouble. For me no Taj hotel anymore.
