Faded grandeur in beautiful location

Posted Feb 24, 2017
Pros: The overall highlight has to be the location: right on the heath and a stone's throw from Blackheath Village.
Cons: The décor and the furnishings are in urgent need of improvement.
Location: Blackheath Village has lots of lovely shops, restaurants and bars. Also it's very close to Greenwich with plenty of interesting places to visit.
The hotel was slightly jaded in décor, fixtures and fittings. Our room was perfectly adequate, but not particularly comfortable. it was certainly not decoratively pleasing, and the bathroom seemed to be a hangover from the seventies! For a one night stay it was fine. The breakfast was extremely good. The dining room was spacious, light and airy, and contrary to our expectations the two of us were put at a large table by the window instead of a cramped table for two in the corner (which we had assumed we'd be shown to!). Everything at breakfast was fresh, with plenty to choose from, and much seemed to be of local provenance. The garden looked lovely: I'd like to return in the summer to enjoy it fully. Such a rarity in (almost) central London.

Trip down memory lane

Posted Feb 11, 2017
Pros: Position, overlooking the heath (but not from room)
Cons: General maintenance.
Location: Interesting village with plenty of restaurants, close to Greenwich and plenty of transport links for Central London and Kent.
First room had non-flushing lavatory, second room was small and dark, third room better but with noisy radiator. The beds were comfortable, furniture adequate but dated. Small bathroom, and housekeeping placed spare loo roll, shower caps (plenty!) on top of flush, as little space to put elsewhere. Good choice at buffet breakfast, but could be difficult to get to when busy. Fellow guests preferred leisurewear to smart casual, but as midweek possibly more tradespeople staying, so would not recommend for a romantic getaway (might be different at weekend)

A short walk from the station with regular trains into central London Wonderful views across Blackheath common and a stroll to Greenwich park Nicely decorated and clean room, friendly staff Tasty breakfast, plenty to choose from Bar downstairs looked newly refurbished Ample parking available Only moan when I had a bath I had to stand up to reach the soap/ shower gel as no other soap was available to use at bath level

Ok for location to O2

Posted Nov 21, 2016
Pros: location to O2 and bus route very regular and convenient.
Cons: Bathroom and bedroom furniture modernised.
Location: Location good for blackheath village and to reach O2
Hotel is tied and repairs are ongoing. Bedroom was clean and comfortable but looks dated and tied. Breakfast was OK, good selection and hot variety was good. Getting coffee and tea was a bit haphazard, would have expected this to be served at table rather than whole experience being self serve.

Hotel with great location

Posted Nov 20, 2016
Pros: The staff
Cons: The condition of the bathroom.
This is an ok hotel with a great location. Stayed one night as a single guest and will probably stay again but not for more than a night and not as a family. There's no lift in the hotel which means having to take the stairs with heavy luggage. Was given a twin room which was good despite my booking being a single room however I found the room quite small. The bathroom was ok but with mouldy seals in the corners between the bath tub and the wall. The shower head was fiddly and not easy to use. Breakfast in the morning was good with a variety to choose from.
