It's just not really clean. I mean the linens are clean, but that is about it. The carpet looks like its not vacuumed consistently. There is low levels of dirt everywhere as a result, in isolation nothing incriminating, but the sum of it all is technically described as "kinda gross, but it works for a night or two when you are in a pinch". The restroom was actually mostly passable, but corners were dirty with what looked like quick/cursory sweeping/cleaning. Of course the price is also a factor.
The chaps that work here are incredibly nice, but I saw them washing spinach in the bathroom...which back to the whole point about a clean room to stay in.
This is my advice to the management - a small amount of investment can go a long way.
* Get new carpet put in and start vacuuming daily/all the time! When carpet is maintained, it lasts much longer. Carpet is Cheap.
* Do not paint over paint! Remove the crusted layers of paint and start fresh. Surfaces, moulding, and corners look a million times more fresh when all their detail is present.
* Update some of the furniture - the upholstery in quite a few of the items in my room wasn't just fading, it was worn all the way down to bare threads.
Would I stay again? Nope. However, it was either this, or a 1,000$ a night hotel because due to personal reasons I had to do a last minute booking. This could provide so much more value, and probably get better overall ratings if it delivered on that point.
