I really enjoy the city of Long Beach as well as the beach itself. Fall is a great time to be there as it isnt very crowded. As for the motel itself, I'd stayed there years before and looked forward to coming back. I was surprised to ses the updates and renovations. The room was very nice and the bed very comfortable. We stayed in a suite and enjoyed the convenience of having a kitchen. The price was great and we appreciated being able to bring our dog. We felt we had a lot of space and enjoyed the king size bed.
Previous reviews mentioned "thin walls" and oir first night neihhbors knocked on oir wall, aparently bothered by the sound of the tv at a moderate volume. We just turned it off as it was bedtime anyway but then hesrd their concersations and laughter until we fell asleep. I'd say its probably similar tonapartment living..not sound proof but not terrible. Some tolerance and a consideration for your neighbors makes it a non-issue.
Rooms, bathroom, and kitchen were clean and well appointed. Dont expect to cook fish or clean clams as it is not allowed in the room. Overall it was great for a weekend we just wanted to relax, spend some time on the beach, and be close to a variety of great food options. As an afterthought i would mention the internet/streaming for the tv is pretty slow and can be frustrating when watching sports. Also, didnt read my conf email and was surprised not to have staff on site for a late arrival. Simple phone call and a code for the door though.
