My stay at the surf club was such an enjoyable one. Yoga classes were offered in the morning right on the lawn on site included with the stay. I loved the full kitchen and having the bedroom upstairs. The beach and pool were pristine. Walking distance to restaurants and shopping. Roxanna at the front desk was so helpful, all staff was kind and pleasant! Wish there was a hot tub, otherwise 5 stars!

It was very nice. You couldn't see the ocean from the patio on the first floor only from the bedroom upstairs. The bed wasn't facing the window so you couldn't lay in bed to watch waves unless you turned your head. Other than that the place was very nice

The location is beautiful but this particular unit was very cramped and poorly furnished. I've stayed at Surf Club for many years and always had pleasant, comfortable units but this one was a disappointment.

Surf Club has been my go-to hotel in Montauk since I was 3 years old! The location is the absolute best and the staff goes above and beyond!

Everything was good. Grounds were clean, staff friendly. Amazing location relative to the beach and the center of town. Only minor issue was with the shower controls were difficult to set the temperature. Should have called it in. All and all very happy with our staff.

The Surf Club was the perfect place for our visit. Plenty of room to spread out, light and cheery decor, easy walking distance to the shops and restaurants, and so close to the beach! Looking forward to returning soon!

Overall the stay was enjoyable. This is definitely more of a family hotel, a ton of kids are a around. It was right on the beach so that was amazing and it was also two blocks from town which was also a plus. Had a nice patio on the back and a kitchen which allowed us to bring our own food. The beds needed work, they were extremely uncomfortable. Check in and out was effortless as they text you a code for access and send you a link for check out. When staying in Montauk for peak season all of the hotels are pretty much the same, if you’re looking for a basic place to stay this one is suitable. You can walk down the street to some of the other hotels if you want more of a vibe and a scene for a drink, but overall there was nothing really wrong with this hotel at all. Did the job.

Unfortunately, our accommodations were quite outdated. The couch was stained, The sink in the bedroom was collapsing down and you could not properly close the bathroom door. The room looks quite tired and hasn’t been updated from the last time we went here 15 years ago.

We loved everything about the surf club and will definitely be coming back. However, our toilet never worked since we checked in. No one came to fix it after numerous requests. Thank god we came with friends and we could use their bathroom otherwise the rating would be much lower! Beautiful property, pool and beach are fantastic. They could probably use a bar by the pool area though.

The location was awesome, the grounds were great (especially the tennis courts) but our actual room was super dirty. We paid way too much to have such a dirty and gross place to stay.

disappointing stay
I've stayed at the Surf Club many times in the past and had a good time. Unfortunately this time was horrid. The woman covering the front desk did all she could to rectify the problems but was limited in authority. The accommodation was not a 2 bedroom. It was a 1 bedroom with a loft. There was not closet in the loft. The closet in the other bedroom was inaccessible if you were over two feet tall. It was more of a cubby hole. The unit was obviously under renovation since there was white paint stripes on the walls, light switch covers that did not cover the holes, the switches were filthy. There were hooks in the wall where art used to hang. If you sat on the couch, you fell into a hole that was difficult to get out of. I paid for a two bedroom oceanview and they tried to move me to a one bedroom with no offer of reimbursement for the difference in fees. Upon arrival to the unit,there was trash piled outside the entrance. I was told there was no housekeeping staff to clean another 2 bedroom unit so we could be moved there, but when the housekeeping staff came to remove the trash from the front door, I inquired and was told, of course there is housekeeping staff available. No one likes being lied to. When I questioned the front desk, she told me very apologetically, that it was out of her control. I plan on never staying there again after dozens of previously wonderful visits. The manager of the day was at fault and could have easily rectified the problem.
