Really lovely location and hotel. Food is great and they are well staffed and services are generally excellent, aside from busy periods. But overall would highly recommended.

Room was fine not the best but not the worst Squeaky bed, light fitting on centre of room needs attention The bathroom was lovely with all the soaps ect I big issue I got overcharged on my drinks 2 white coffee and 2 sambuca £34 I was lucky it come up on my I phone the staff did agree a refund ended up £17.80 the sambuca was the smallest I’ve ever seen

Overall, it is a great stay. Downside is that they charge £15 for breakfast per person if you book through Expedia, which is not clear and the breakfast is not worth it; I had avocado and egg, it was a sour paste avocado not fresh.

Lovely place
Staff were great, very friendly and seemed like nothing is too much trouble. Rooms, bar and restaurant areas all furnished. decorated to high standard. Only downside is cleaning wasn't done to high standard (dirty bathroom floor), lots of dust on fittings etc and some general maintenance required to windows, blinds etc. But overall a lovely place to stay. Love their attitude to dogs too, if we stay again we would take our dog knowing it would be made very welcome !

Gem of a historic hotel
Amazing hotel. The suite we stayed in was fabulous. The bathroom was spotless with a great shower. Eating in the hotel restaurant was a pleasure, the chef's creations were so tasty. Friendly and helpful staff. Will definitely come back.

Nice Cosy Weekend Break
Good hotel. Food & beverages excellent. Considering the current COVID restrictions the service was very good. Staff very pleasant and engaging. Reservation was prepaid via Hotels.com but was charged again for accommodation by the hotel at check out. Didn't reslise this u til i checked my Amex statement. Awaiting a refund from hotel. Hopefully nothing more than an oversight.

This property is in sight of a beautiful Church which was spectacular at night. The room was lovely but the shower ran cold when we arrived late in the evening which was very disappointing, but the owner did provide a discount. The breakfast rates were confusing as they were one price for residents £15pp and different prices for non residents which again I wasn’t very pleased with. I think this hotel could do better on guest hospitality and pricing.

If you want good food this is the place to stay!
Staff - very attentive and helpful. Food - excellent. Room - impressively large, but tiny TV compared to the size of the room. En-suite could do with being updated (the shower over the bath leaked from the seal where it joined the bath). The stairs could do with vacuuming more often as "bits" on the day we arrived were still there when we left!

Relaxing stay
Comfortable base to explore the area and nice position next to a green and near the impressive Holy Trinity Church. No problems bringing a dog. Had a meal in the bar and the food was very good. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Lovely stay
A last minute booking and if you like a nice pub with rooms above then you’ll like this! I didn’t eat in the pub so can’t commant on the food. Parking was on the street/green but very easy. Room was lovely and spacious and a very nice bed. Bathroom was good. The only bit that was rather odd was the small tv that had just been attached to the wall in a very cheap B and B manner! I didn’t get chance to walk into the local town but when I drove through it looked like a nice place to mooch around for a couple of hours. Would stay here again if in the area.

Classic Pub with funky rooms
Classic pub with funky rooms. Quality bathroom products always a treat. Evening meal was really tasty with a fabulous Scotch Egg starter-Well recommended. While on business the rest of the guests were on holiday as local area seems really interesting. Will certainly stay again. PS the beer was local and well kept too.....

Really disappointed with the Black Lion. General cleanliness of the reception and staircase were shabby and dirty. Stair carpets were filthy and frayed on riders as, well as the landing and corridor. No hair dryer in room, tea, and coffee making facilities were poor,. Water pressure in the bathroom was very low, water barely trickled out of the shower head. For the money we paid it was unacceptable £166 so out, want values for money. The only good thing was the breakfast was okay
