Art Deco style hotel close to the beach & 3rd St

Posted Apr 12, 2017
Pros: Location, and a proper bathtub.
Cons: Fix the pool.
Restored hotel which has kept the art deco features and upgraded rooms around these. Room was spacious and clean. At the time of our visit the swimming pool was closed for repair. This was a big disappointment. We chose to stay here specifically because of the pool. There are cheaper places nearby, just as good, without a pool.

Good room. Ocean views. A little noisy. Walking distance to shops and great restaurants. Great staff.

Great Location

Posted Mar 11, 2017
Pros: Location, location, location.
Cons: Availability of facilities.
Location: Close to beach, the pier, 3rd Street Promenade, variety of restaurants.
Enjoyed being able to walk to the beach every day. Also easy walk to 3rd Street Promenade. Outdoor spa was under repair a couple days, and reserved for a private function another. Food in restaurant was good.

Cute Art-Deco Hotel In Great Location, But Noisy

Posted Jan 27, 2017
Pros: Location--great access to restaurants and the beach. Well-preserved.
Cons: The hotel staff seemed indifferent and incompetent. Especially the bar staff at the roof-top bar. A lot of people working there who don't really care.
Location: Santa Monica Pier, the Promenade, shopping, restaurants, beach, it's all right there.
Well preserved art-deco hotel within walking distance of everything. Great location. However, there are no fans or noise cancelling devices in the rooms. When I called the front desk to ask for a portable box fan they said they didn't have any for guests. After tiring of listening to all of the noise right outside my door for 2 days I went to a department store and bought a box fan for $22. The hotel staff was un-apologetic. If you are a light sleeper this hotel might not be for you.

A taste of 1920's on a Santa Monica Beach front

Posted Jan 17, 2017 on Hotels
This is a gem of a place, the staff were great the rooms were lavish. I will definitely go there again. The roof top bar is a must as the breakfasts. The rooms were well appointed in an Art Deco 1920s style and all the trimmings are in keeping with the style. The pool was great although not used and no better place to see a west coast sunset.

Poor service for such a high price

Posted Jan 4, 2017 on Hotels
For the cost of the hotel the room servicing was very poor. No tea or coffee was available for the rooms.
