This has been a go to for me for several years for my DTLA stays. The neighborhood might be a little ragged for some, but I like the vibrancy of it even though it’s a little gritty around the edges. It certainly does not feel unsafe, even late night. Lots of street vendors and food options nearby including the classic LA institution, Langer’s deli/sandwich shop. The 7 minute walk to the Metro station is a big plus for us too. Zero of the 3 ice machines worked during our stay, not a deal killer, just a bit of a bummer. I hate to pay for parking, but a $5 parking fee is perfectly acceptable. Everything was reasonably clean, but certainly not spotless. I’m not sure if they ever completed the remodel, but the rooms that have been remodeled are kind of cool in a funky slightly steampunkish retro way. Overall, from my experience, this place is hard to beat in the DTLV area in the $100-$150 price range.
