PROS:
1. If you are in town to catch a game or event at arena and convention center, the property’s location is hard to beat.
2. The staff is well trained, attentive and hard at work. Special props to front-desk and room cleaning crew. Concierge on the other hand - not so much.
3. Lobby is always lively, even after midnight. Typical LA vibe.
4. Unlike other downtown business hotels, the JW is Uber/Lyft friendly, and the drivers themselves have said that the valet employees are kind.
5. Pool and spa are a welcome respite from a long day, especially if you experienced the (in)famous LA commute.
CONS:
1. All restaurants in walking distance close at 11 pm.
2. Don't rent a car from the Hertz on property. Its not mentioned anywhere, but they will charge you compulsory for 2 weekend nights since the office is closed from 12 pm Sat. Also, the rental office is undermanned. But the staff there are friendly, and honest (special mention to Alex), so this is more of a Hertz issue.
3. Parking is $55, and no self parking option exists. Enough said.
4. Road crews galore, so getting in and out is a pain.
5. The rooms are clean with modern furnishings. They claim you can order room service off a QR code but we never saw it despite asking many times.
6. View - massive eyesore of abandoned graffiti skyscrapers. Ask for a room with view of north downtown instead.
7. Breakfast options are decent. Order the kids all-you-an eat buffet with an extra plate charge, unless you bring your appetite.
