I love this place

Posted Feb 24, 2017
I had a wonderful experience. From check in to check out, the staff was attentive, helpful and knowledgeable. The food we ordered from room service and it was absolutely wonderful. My husband had filet mignon and I enjoyed the stuffed chicken with cheesecake for dessert. The room cost is reasonable but the fee for valet, bottled water and even charge for the self-serve coffee in the room-which I did not realize. The room and bed were comfortable. I will definitely return.

The service is minimum. We checked in late and no one around to help . Took us a while to find the room...

Beautiful, such a relaxing place.

Posted Feb 16, 2017
1 day get away with my husband and it was perfect. Such a relaxing place to be in and able to forget about "reality" for a bit. From the valet, to check in, to the room. Everything has been thought about in such a perfect way. Definitely going back.

Quiet spot in beautiful Pasadena.

Posted Feb 9, 2017
From the moment you valet your car, to the aroma in lobby, to the beautiful room with a very comfortable bed, you are somewhere special at this hotel. Our room had a view of the San Gabriel Valley. Stunning! The service at check in and in the bar were great, but I have to give special mention to the valet staff. They are very attentive and really nice. They start the stay off right! ($29 per night for guests is a bit steep in my opinion, but you know going in.)

Beautiful hotel. Service disappointing.

Posted Feb 3, 2017
Pros: The hotel and landscape are beautiful
Cons: Staff needs training. Not professional enough to be considered the service of a 5 star hotel. Staff craved for tips but wouldn't work for it.
Location: In the middle of a quiet residential neighbourhood. Nothing within walking distance.
I have no complains about the hotel as it is beautiful. However, the staff will need more training. After arriving in our room, I called for a kettle to be brought to our room. After waiting for almost an hour, I called again to remind them I need a kettle, a kettle was quickly brought to our room, meaning they forgot about it the first time. Another thing that irritated me was that the hotel staff craved for tips. When we had our luggage brought to our room or had the valet parked/retrieved our car, a few staff would have their hands out ready to receive tips. This, in my opinion, was rather rude. So, while a nice hotel, the service ruined the experience.

Dear Wayne, Thank you for taking the time to share these concerns with us. I am pleased to note that you enjoyed our lovely property and your accommodations, however I am most disappointed to note the service issues which you have mentioned. This is not indicative of our brand standards or protocols, nor even of a typical stay at our hotel, which has long been known for our high service standards. Please know that I have addressed these items in detail with the appropriate teams and managers so we take care to make the necessary adjustments and these issues do not occur again. It also may be worth noting for our guests that although we are indeed not located within walking distance of shops and restaurants, we do offer a complimentary guest shuttle that may take guests to and from local attractions upon availability and request. We hope in light of our continued efforts to offer superb service and amenities, you will consider returning again so we may have the opportunity to show you a flawless visit. Historic Hotel, some problems

Posted Dec 24, 2016
Pros: Architecture and Gardens are fabulous
Cons: Staff are fine but not as positive about making sure guests are happy. Biggest problem with hotel is noise from hall and can hear people in next room
Location: Perfect location for pasadena, san marino and south pas.
Great Historic Hotel experience with nice grounds. Noisy

Quiet luxury in Pasadena

Posted Dec 22, 2016
Pros: Luxury, comfort.
The hotel is beautiful! Just driving up the long entry way feels special. The hotel is located in an upscale neighborhood with lovely homes and old Pasadena estates. The grounds of the hotel are well maintained and worth taking time to walk through. The beds are very comfortable and the in-room amenities are nice. (Including a shaving kit and toothbrush!) The hotel is not walk-friendly to things to do around Pasadena, so a car would be helpful. There are nice dining options right here. My favorite spot is on the patio of the bar taking in the view.

Pros: I loved the location of the hotel. Very beautiful.
Cons: I believe I have explained that in the first box.
Location: We ate at the cheesecake factory, Ihop, did a lot of shopping at the mall.
I was a little disappointed that we were advised the restaurant was booked. There was a young lady that said she would check to see if they could get us a table, There were empty tables everywhere yet it took the girl 30min to come and get us seated and we were placed at a table that was very small. My husband is 6'3 and I am 5'10. It was a little uncomfortable. Several tables were available which did not give us a positive first impression. It was only my husband and I, and we were advised of the hotel amenities prior to our arrival. We were the only African Americans and not saying that the intent was racial, however I could very well otherwise see someone mistaking this as the behavior displayed. We decided to drive to the other nearby restaurants in the neighborhood after this. The car hops were extremely helpful and so were the ladies at the front desk.

Dear guest, Thank you for taking the time to share this valuable feedback with us. I am pleased to note that you enjoyed many things about the hotel, however I do truly apologize for the wait time which you experienced at one of our restaurants. Even during shift changes when certain sections of the restaurant may remain unseated due to lack of staff service for that area, our policy is always to put our guests' needs first and find a place to accommodate without a long wait. I am of course very disappointed to hear that we fell short in this instance and will be addressing this with our restaurant hosts and staff right away to ensure this does not occur again. We do hope you will consider visiting again so we may have the opportunity to show you a truly flawless visit. Best Regards, Vern Lakusta Director of Hotel Operations
